Summary: with 2w marines base and buffed power weapons, what will happen to Sanguinary Guard/Wulfen/Black Knights and their weapons?
now that GW has revealed that 2W marines is the new standard, and melee weapons being revamped. I wanted to make a thread speculating on what is going to change (if any) to our snowflake units. As a SW player I don't know to much about Sanguinary Guard, Death Company, Black Knights and Deathwing Knights. Who will get a extra wound will be easy. what i'm most interested in is what happens to my Wulfen claws, frost weapons, and great frost weapons and other unique weapons other armies have.
Who gets the extra wounds:
Simple answer is all marines (barring HQ, scouts, servitor, and wolves i think)
I do want to know if Wulfen will stay at 2 wounds and if TWC will get a extra wound.
What about weapons:
Power sword with +1S = SW Frost sword. Will the new frost sword get +2S, new Frost ax +3S?
All chain swords are -1AP. Will Wulfen claws stay the same or get -2AP?
With the SS change, will you take them as often?

I honestly expect that majority of things like this to simply cease to exist. Rolled into Codex: Space Marines = no more frost weapons etc. You get a power sword, you get a power axe, etc.
At least that's what I would expect. It makes management much easier.

I was thinking of the same thing, but looking at the leaked terminator and vanguard veteran stats, GW highlights each weapon that comes in their box. For example there are what looks 2 similar looking powers swords but have different profiles. if there is a model, there are rules holds strong imo so I doubt we will lose anything, Old Marines have not been squatted, why would their weapons.

Being rolled into Codex: Space Marines didn't stop characters or Chapter specific units like the Honor Guard or Tyrannic War Veterans or Crusader Squads from existing.
There's also "Special Issue Wargear" that's Chapter specific, kind of mini-relics in the supplements for everyone so far.
I would expect Helfrost and Frost weapons to be put in that way.

Imperial Guard Landspeeder Pilot
On moon miranda.

Wargear like Frost weapons is also exactly the sort of thing that tends to change, or come and go, from edition to edition even within its own faction codex too, so it's not the sort of thing people should really get up in arms about. There's no Wolf Tooth Necklace wargear anymore either for example, and hasn't been for a couple of codex iterations IIRC (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have the book in front of me currently).

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

There are a number of distinct weapons out there, along with a few "character only" weapons. I wouldn't expect them to disappear, but whether they change them to be more like other weapons is a question. The 2 "Power swords" in the Vanguard Veteran box are actually a Relic Blade (the much larger sword) and a Power Sword.
