Subject: LED question

Hi all
Not strictly a modelling question but Ive just built my detolf display unit.
I bought this LED kit off amazon
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07K2NDQMB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Basically the power supply cable is only 1.08M long and has no on/off switch so I have to switch off at the main plug which is not cool.
I got extender connectors in order to feed this up to the top shelf and with rigging several of these up using 4pin male to male conencions so the length is not an issue.
However I cannot find any sort of switch I can hook up at the end of the power supply. So need like a 4pin male or female on either side with some sort of switch. Dunno if this makes sense.
Alternatively a new power supply with a long cable and a switch?
Tips appreciated.

Or just buy a simple switch from the nearest electronics store and cut the wires you have and splice them in.
Its all pretty low voltage by the time you get near the LEDs so you shouldn't be able to damage yourself with it too much Automatically Appended Next Post: Alternatively, buy a switched extension lead and have that where you want to control it from, within 1.08m of the lights

Was not sure if you got it already, or planning to get those. Because there are better LED options to get but require some wiring knowledge.
In your case, yep:
Like Flinty said,
Wire in a switch, or make your own. Safety first and all!
I have no experience with any LED work me self, sorry can't be of actual help.

Huh tahts cool.. I did not know they make remotes for sockets. Genius.
The extension sockets will be the next best thing. Will have top run it through the plug on the other side of the room instead of from my computer one but it will work.
Might be a bit ugly so will have to hide it behind the unit not might just thread through the back and hide it in the riser furniture unit.
Theres no harm in having the remote thing as well as the extension right ?

I agree with the others that using a manufactured product to add a switch either to the outlet or the cord before the power supply might be the best/easiest/safest way. Of those, the switched outlet seems also the neatest, as long as you can keep track of the remote!
