I've finally started my Dwarf 40k project. It's basically a counts as Imperial Army. I had initially bought the minis for 40k competitive "Soup" list. It's now going to be a more friendly CP-poor 9th ED list. I'll take it to GTs but just for the fun and fellowship. I am batch painting and have a Knight awaiting final assembly, weathering and inking. Almost finished with the three squads of guardsmen and some HQs. Space Wolves will form the 3rd detachment. They are very nearly done. But I just couldn't hold back from starting the thread anymore. So here's the first test of the loyal 32. Still wet and shiney. I think they'll have snow bases but still undecided.

Always wanted to do 40 dwarfs.

Wonder how mantic dwarfs will look next to space wolfs when everything is painted.
Can't wait to see more!

SUPERHEAVY AUX:

Open to suggestions on fluffy Guard faction choice and Knight type, house, etc. He'll have a carapace missle-pod, melee weapon, gun arm, and carapace turrets.

I have nearly enough models for another guard squad, 2 more TWC TH/SS, 4 or 5 more HQs on TWC. Open to buying some stuff. I have visions of the dreadknight piloted by a dwarf with Scribor dwarves as paladins/termites. Also dig the sigmar flying dwarves as primaris maybe. If I dipped into AdMech (mainly for the lost-in-space Castellan Robots), I'd be looking for ideas for cyborg squats for their troops if anyone has any sources.

Thanks for your interest. The Mantic dwarves were given to me.I had initially made a pure wolf list with dwarves but never got around to starting it until I was gifted the Mantic minis. They sat lonely and unassembled in a box n the back of my closet. Almost every model will be kit-bashed. A buddy got two IK leg sprues in a box and gave me those, so it's bashed with a Privateer Press Khador something or other. The russes are a combined Dust walker and a 3D printed turret. Not sure how to do the sponsons on it yet, so they'll be the last to show up on this thread.

So a whole lot of conversion to the max, nice!
Much of perseverance for your efforts, I'll stay tuned.

A couple months ago I ran across my stash of Mantic Forge Fathers (20 infantry and a tank) from a kickstarter. I had totally forgotten about them. A week later someone finds info in the new rules about Squats. Then Wargames Atlantic does their own Sci-Fi dwarfs. It's all too much. I too will be joining this endeavor, just as soon as I get my 60 Thunderwarriors finished. LOL

I though you will have squats as IG and leave spacewolfs default.
I guess that makes sense, spacewolf recruiting squats, or possible splinter from SW that is on lost world of forge ice and fire.

They look great as is, yet I still vote for snow
But its your call, because that is a baseing chose for the entire army.

All my buddies are saying snow too, so I think I'll go for it.

OSL on the guard plasma tomorrow and matte varnish. Then snow and dried grass tufts. Then they'll footy stuff will be done. My imperial knight is blocked but needs inking and final assembly. Fliers and tanks still in pieces.

Aint it awesome, how different dwarfs come together so neatly into one unit!
I am not a huge fan of Scibor, but the Bears are just the bees-knees, and Mantic dwarfs look perfect with Lasguns in fact id say they look better than with Lasguns than with black-powder guns or crossbows imho.

The weathering on the Titan I would keep to minimum, it is a dwarf machine after all with superior holy weapon oils and meticulous maintenance. So no rust, no water damage, no chipping.
Think of whatever weathering would occur on a dome, some water streaks, dead plant and leaf residue deposits like in a roof gutter, perhaps some green moss grow in areas, and just good ol battle damage, minor scratches and dents that expose the ceramite.

Thanks Moth. A little late on the weathering. I went to town on it. Not super stoked on how it turned out, as it will dictate the rest of the army's aesthetic. I have C.D.O. It's kind of like O.C.D. but the letters have to be in alphabetical order.

Wrapped up the leman russes last night. Opted against painting the treads for now. Still have to do OSL on the whole army. Only need to do the basilisk topper for one of the Russes and the two fliers. Then done with dwarves after 3 years of being in parts boxes. 2000 pt list.

Squat project completed. Napoleonics next.
