Yeah I'm sure its 100% that and has nothing to do with a lot of people using that website as a source for material that an extremely litigious company would really REALLY like players to be shelling out for...

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
I like the lore articles, they're concise and less stuffy than most other sources. They may not be 100% accurate or at all impartial but it's more like being told about it by your mate.
It's not like I'm studying for a history major and I'll never remember the details anyway so I'd rather an enjoyable summary of what went down...

Absolutely this.
At the very least, it was incredibly useful to have a summary of all the different rules for an army, rather than having to dig through multiple, often poorly-laid-out books to find what I needed. Especially with stuff like wargear, artefacts, stratagems and warlord traits. Even if I had to look up an exact rule elsewhere, it was really useful to at least get the gist of what things did.
It was especially useful when I wasn't very familiar with the army in question (and so might not even be aware of some of the supplements for such).

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.
Please report to your nearest GW store for attitude readjustment. Take your wallet.
I miss the articles that go through tactics from earlier editions. Yeah, I know they're probably inaccurate/exaggerated, but it was fun to read sometimes to see how an army played in days gone by. Now, it's hard to even find content about the game from 7e, let alone the real silver chestnuts.
All in all, 1d4chan's day is past but it was fine for what it was.

To be fair even if 1d4chan going down has nothing to do with that statement, it's not wrong imo. Especially now.

If it's dead dead I'm gonna be sad because I used it for an easy to access, digest and read source of the plethora of faction rules. It was a better source than the stuff GW actually sells.

Cool, so we're still going with this imaginary "some people were offended by words on the website" and not "the billion dollar corporation whose rules the website was dedicated to pirating got offended by the words on the website?"
Anyone got aaany reason at all to think that?
Just normal intermet reactionary conspiracy stuff?

I echo what The Scotsman said, I suspect the real reason it is gone us likely due to pressure from GW as it was essentially giving people access to a lot of codex rules for free. This is exactly the reason I used 1d4chan and i suspect why most people used it. If people are that bothered by the latest ism then perhaps being locked in is a blessing because far far worse is said in casual conversation in the real world

I wonder how this realy works. Here if someone doesn't like to watch or be part of something they don't like, they just don't go to places where those things happen. If someone was really against the stuff that goes on there, why would they go and visit the place? But I guess this is one of those things I don't understand.

Those of us who dislike such language are just as free to express our distaste for the use such terms as they are to use it. If disapproval of the use of certain words bothers you, maybe you should go somewhere you can't see that disapproval?
It is flat-out hypocritical to ask for freedom of speech to use any terms you like, then ask that people who are uncomfortable with such terms just shut up and take it without expressing that discomfort.

Hah! I like that logic!
Again - my response to "if you know it's going to be like that, why go there" - firstly, it's not like there's a disclaimer saying "hey guys, we're going to be making light of sexual assault and using unfriendly language here!". Secondly, why do they need to use such language to create their articles? It's simply not necessary. It's not like that kind of language is integral to their site.

Humour that relies on making light of sexual assault has no right to be called humour. I don't think that's really up for discussion.

You'd be wrong. Rape, and other dark subject matter, has been used in humor.

Agreed. It was facile edgelord attempts at humour. Nothing more complex than that. No amount of whababoutism can imbue it with any nuance, it was just inappropriate and unfunny throughout.
