I ordered the slaves to darkness splintered fang box through my FLGS three weeks ago and the owner says it still hasn't arrived.

Is this normal? This seems like a crazy long wait time even given Coronavirus etc.

Long. GW is screwing FLGS's with the mail order only items. Generally it takes for me month. 2 months hasn't been off realm. THE worst record breaking time was 8 months. Not kidding. Ordered on may, arrived on january. And btw this was pre-corona...

As such if I need something in a hurry I order directly but despite delays I try to order from FLGS despite delays. Don't want to reward GW for the underhanded strategy to make people order directly rather than via FLGS any more than absolutely neccessary.

Did they actually order it from GW or did they order it via a distributor? Did they actually order it three weeks ago or did they order it as part of their bigger order to avoid shipping fees? Even though it's marked as "available to order"(which is how they mark Direct Order items), it did get a splash release originally and was available via distributors for a bit.

Tneva's times are a bit longer as Sweden isn't likely a 'region' for GW, outside of having a webstore. Everything likely gets distributed for them via the UK...which, dunno if you heard, has been involved in this crazy thing called "Brexit".

Bluntly, if something is marked as 'available to order'? Unless you see them actually place the order then and there, assume it won't be done until they have to place their big order for the stock the next week. Because otherwise it likely does cost them shipping fees...and items placed to order? They don't get their usual discount.

It doesn't suprise me, I know from working in an independent store more than 15 years ago and the crappy behaviour almost led to the owner stopping selling them (and then suddenly service improved when some hard telephone calls were made). I have read the same elsewhere, I guess if deliveries are slow then it prompts customers to go through GW direct where they then make more profit per sale.

Some kind of weird love/hate thing. I've never known if they would prefer not to deal with FLGS at all, but even though there are a predominance of GW stores there are still enough independent stores (and a few of those are pretty large) that it would represent giving up too much sales/marketing space.

I think it also varies on the volume of the store, to some degree. I'm lucky enough to have several good stores nearby, and I order from two of them semi-regularly. I've never had a problem getting what I want if it's listed as "in stock" on the GW website.

Takes about a week, maybe week and a half, but never longer than that.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
