Looking great mate. Echoing the love for the plasma glow, and loving the touch of individuality in the bases!

Stoked that they may see the table soon. Thanks for sharing!

Nice work, really like faces, all have different colour and very individual.
Don't you try paint eyeballs? Or they painted just not visible on photo?

Cheers mate much appreciated. Don't know about soon for the tabletop.. my group of pals are slow going. Maybe in the new year??

Thanks! Yes I always custom mix my faces so they never really look alike, simple way of trying to bring in a little more realism. As for the eyes, I never tend to paint them because white glaring eyes just aren't how faces look. I paint them quite dull and dark so you can only really see them holding the mini.

Over the weekend I managed to paint up two more troopers for second squad. The vox officer and another lastrooper.

Cheers all

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Troops are looking good! The white and green go well together, and I think that sickly green works for the plasma glow

Thanks for the kind words one and all, much appreciated!

2nd squad of Aquila platoon painted up, last three finished the other week.

Not looking too bad all in all. Probably not my best work but I'm trying to speed up more so I actually have some figures painted considering the complete lack of time I've got at the minute

And a little touch of fluff to go along with it:

\\<+ The growling engine and clattering of tracks grew steadily louder as the heretic APC came rolling through the treeline. Promethium exhaust fumes belched from large stacks and a cacophony of riotous sound accompanied it as it blared out salutations to the Dark Ones. Sergeant Laidlaw and the rest of 2nd squad waited, hunkered down in the lee of a fallen Guthum pine. In the twilit gloom of the forest, the squad were practically invisible. The heretic vehicle smashed over a snow drift with a roar and thundered towards their position. Twisting sigils covered the armoured hide of the vehicle and a blinding spotlight swept past the tree. The sound of the vox speakers ululating and screeching set their teeth on edge, but the squad stayed still, patiently waiting their chance. As the APC rolled by, trooper Boldon jumped up and fired a searing blast of energy from his meltagun. The speakers erupted in an otherworldly roar of agony as if the vehicle itself felt the blow. It coasted to a stop and as the rear door was thrown open, trooper Mercer triggered his flamer and swept the inside with a gout of flame, cooking the remaining traitors inside. Backlit by the gutted APC, the squad moved out. //

Cheers all!

Nice work! Do you just paint armor white? Or there some complex recipe?

Thanks! So I do a white spray base, then touch up anything with watered down white. Then a grey shade/ citadel contrast. Then layer back up with watered down white. Painting white sucks so I try and do a simple method

Cheers mate!

Had a little moment of spare time last night so painted up one of my Rough Riders.

One of the fabled Redburn Steel Bonnets. Like with many worlds in the Imperium, an order of defenders rose to prominence during the terrors of Old Night. Highly ritualised and esoteric in their nature, but their skill in the saddle is peerless. All citizens in the sector know of the Steel Bonnets and their prowess is the subject of many ballads and poetry.

I'm about 90% finished. I'm considering changing the cloth colour to a dark green. I'd originally painted up the barding as a deep green enamel colour but changed my mind completely and repainted it.

I also painted up a little snowy forest backdrop to give my photos a little extra pizazz!

Let me know what you think!

Cheers all!

That rough rider is insane !

Imho if you go for green may be try to match the shade of your troopers' fabric ?
It'll pop a bit more against the metal parts and against the black of the horse ?

"White's hard so I keep it simple" - with the six layer method! Outstanding work. White is very hard to work with, and you've got it looking great.

The Rough Rider is almost something Boris Vallejo or Frank Frazetta would have done- pure Mounted Malice.

"He fears his fate too much, or his desserts are small, who will not put it to a single touch; to win- or lose- it all."
