Aw, he's a lovely lad really. Just provided you don't have any precious minerals that he can sniff out!

youwashock wrote:White Dwarf 40K looks super cool! Hope the base works out!

Cheers youwashock! It hasn't worked out yet.. ran out of time to finish it for the competition because work was a wee bit hectic. Still on my to do list for tomorrow.

gobert wrote:Great squat action Olthannon! Loving the white dwarf, you may not have done too much to him, but he certainly looks 40k to me!

Cheers Gobert, I think the big gun helps

muette wrote:Yep, kitbash is on point, looking forward to see it finished up!

Thanks Muette! Soons I promise!

mcmattila wrote:Cool take on Grombrindal! Lot's of nice details around the model, like the OSL effect on the small lights and the gems, and I like the colors on the rock as well!

Thanks mcmattila! I really enjoy mucking about with OSL. Helps to add to the 40k vibe on an AoS model. The rock had a lot of variations to it. I wanted it to look like some weirdy mineral rock from the galactic core.

tzurk wrote:Looking good mane. Slow and steady wins the race!

Thanks for keeping us posted

Thanks muchly tzurk! Slow and steady is my mantra at the minute.

So updates abound:

Here's my Einhyr Champion at last, took ages to sort out the base and the resin I used shrunk quite alarmingly, but I've had enough of it so just going to leave it at that for now!

I wrote up a tiny bit of fluff for him too:

_//_ Transmission Active... Parsing data.. _//_

The vox speakers attached to the servoskull emit a dreadful shrieking sound, bestial roaring and sharp, laboured breathing. An unknown voice cries out in brazen defiance, the language unknown but the vehemence of the cursing is clear to any listener. A moment of static before the pict clears and the scene reveals itself.
A beautifully wrought axe glitters momentarily in the light of a distant star, the pict camera feed pulls back as it swings up and around before arcing down in a devastating strike that carves through the chitinous monster. The shrieking transforms into a dull gurgling and a heavy thud accompanies the creature crumpling to the floor, a pool of viscous florescent blood obscures the lower half of the screen. Ruins of an Imperial structure can be seen in the background, a twilit sky is lit by tracer fire and large bat winged creatures streaking across. A short, well built figure in deep crimson armour pulls the axe free and roars out in triumph. More of the strange guttural language emits from the horned helmet.

_//_ Parsing data banks.. translation software activating.. _//_

"Right that's that big bugger dead. That'll teach the bastards to mess with our claim!"

The figure begins thudding towards the screen and a large boot covered in runic symbols eclipses the pict before a mechanical crunching noise echoes from the skull vox and the screen abruptly turns black.

_//_ Transmission ends... _//_

Built the first 3 of the new Hernkyn Yaegirs as well.

What a fantastic kit, loads of fun to build. I've got some ideas to convert it up so more on the way.

Cheers for now!

Like youwashock these minis are new to me!

I love the bucket helmet on the Einhyr guy and the trenchcoats on the yaegirs are very cool. Reminds me a lot of that badass crossbow-wielding dwarf bard from Dragon Age 2 who narrates the story.

Love the fluff too. Don't mess with the clan...

Thanks Not Online!!! Sadly not but, I have seen quite a few conversions on Instagram where people have used them with normie human legs and they look great!

Hi bud, sorry this took a long time to respond. The answer is: a little 3D printing company called Zinge.

So another mighty delay in actually updating this blog. The reason being I'm soon to be a dad so haven't had much time getting the house prepped and doing a pile of DIY.

Just updates from some of the Votann. Still plenty more to do with that army but the last couple of months I haven't managed anything. Last weekend I managed a few hours to paint the Indomitus chaplain for my Knights of Fey chapter.

Cheers all!

Lovely updates, the chaplain looks great as does the White Dwarf. love the terminator style head on the Barrel Maiden, the bar patrons will definitely give her the respect she deserves

Thanks everyone much appreciated. We have a happy healthy baby boy. He's a lovely lad but doesn't particularly like sleeping at night, so my brain doesn't exactly work well.
The Votann are still waiting in the wings, will pick them back up when they get a new model release.

So with 2025 rolled round I've decided to start a new army! Except, it's not really a new army, it's an old army of mine reborn. Imperial Guard are my favourite 40k faction, the epitome of the poor foot soldier forced into a war with little hope of survival pitted against a galaxy filled to the brim with evil.

The originals were the 101st Redburn Dragoons, an airborne regiment, fighting against the endless hordes of Tyranids.

Redburn itself is a Feudal world made up of a taiga landscape. Heavily forested and snow swept, with sizeable enclave cities built amongst the trees. The poor conditions breed a hardy population making them perfect recruits for the Imperial war machine.

The first few troopers of the 55th Redburn Dragoons.

This squad is mainly a testbed to try out how the army will look. I really love the design for the new Cities of Sigmar figures, thought they would make the perfect base for a Guard army. I really like the differing body types within the kit, of course I had to give the fat bloke the squad grenade launcher.

Couldn't resist picking up a Rogal Dorn as well, what a beast of a tank. Can't wait to paint them up.

It's far too cold in the UK to undercoat minis so I'm going to have some fun building and converting when I get some free time!

Cheers for now.

Little update here, not had too much time spare with a 6 week old but managing to get an hour or two in every now and then.

First 5 troopers of 2nd squad. Nice and straightforward, the poor bloody infantry.

This is a little tweak to the first squad as the new codex drop changed the squad loadouts. Every squad seems to have 2 special weapons per 10. So little bit of mucking about in my bitz box to create a plasma gunner.

Cheers for now!
