They are indeed, I was fortunate that I had some leftover Dwarf sprues from many moons ago.

Thanks! Feel like I need it on repeat when I go into a battle with them.

Cheers Gobert, same to you!

I did in fact win the game! We played a four player game of hunt the relic, I found the relic immediately with my first operative on the first roll and got VPs for that and then the other three blasted me into pieces I guess I downloaded the data but couldn't escape. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I can't wait till we start our campaign.

So, for my next project I've been painting up my squad of miners / sappers. Long term followers of the Orchard may remember I did this kitbash back in February of last year which is very depressing I knew I'd done this a long time ago but didn't realise it took me this long to get round to painting them. I'm determined to get them painted this week so it isn't quite a year between the build and the painting

I used a lot of bits from the AoS Kharadron infantry kit. I hope they bring out a unit similar to this in the future, maybe equipped with explosive charges and mining lasers. My idea was that these soldiers were made up from miners from a small hold that used slightly lower tech materials. I used heads from the Pioneers to give them a more rugged look and used some more unusual hair colours to make them seem more "Xenos".

I'm very pleased with how the kits have blended together, especially now I've painted them up.

Although funnily enough it's all the reasons I don't like AoS miniature design that allowed these to blend together so easily.. AoS is just too 40k.

Cheers for now!

Age of Sigmar being too 40k is like when some Norseman Marauder took a trip to the Chaos Wastes in his tank and found a Slaan Starship.

Old lore from the older parts of the old world but good fun. Enjoying your modernly beardy future dwarfs. Very cool.

Lovely painting work, conversions and background writing! And good use of the 7th edition Dwarf standard top. I might borrow that fine idea for my WIP Sagitaur. AoS Kharadrons are indeed too 40k for fantasy, which means they are perfect for Squats to rule the galaxy! A treasure trove of bits.

The wagon for the Sagitaur is wonderful. A labour of love. What great inspiration for Leagues of Votann is contained herein this log! I'm saving pictures of your work left and right as future reference for drawings and conversions.

Not so much the whackiness, I'm all about it. More the design language.

Maybe the ore was the friends they made along the way?

Yes, but also don't forget Alpharius

Great looking models. Honestly the dwarfes here are some of your best work imo!

I see i am not the only one contemplating finishing up a project before taking a look again at square bases.

Cracking work on the votann! Those AoS bits really did work well. The Kill Team game looked great fun too, and good to get a win to boot! Looking forward to seeing your Old World project

Well well well, you know it's been a while when your painting blog is all the way back on to p4!

Thanks all for your kind comments, Votann are still ongoing as I have a few things left unpainted.

My plan was to look into my High Elves again, but I did a little test on changing the spear hafts and bows to a light grey to brighten up the look of my minis but it didn't work and I sacked the whole thing off
After that, real life took over and I've not had a chance to pick up a brush throughout Feb.

My Ancestors Wrath mini finally arrived so I built that the other day. Quite happy with how they turned out.

Couple of little conversions here just to personalise the mini but didn't want to overcrowd it. The pose is great so I wanted to accent that with the helmet. Gives it a "Knight Miner" kind of vibe. Perhaps something of an ancestral Ironkin, might lean into that idea with an archaic paint job.

Cheers for now!
