Thanks both! Just a little update from me as I've had zero time for the lovely fantasy world of fun.

Had a bit of time today so I sorted out the keg on the back of my medic. Now brewkyn designated:W0RL4D can carry out their duties properly. A fermenter and brewer extraordinaire. If a squadmate is down and out, a tankard of finest XXXX will sort them right out.

Cheers for now!

Lovely Kin conversions there! I'll have to save all your new Squat ideas for future inspiration. Top spirit. Nice Marines and basing, as well.

Thank you one and all, much appreciated.

Just a couple of updates here - finally got the last two minis of the first half of the Kill Team done. Should have finished these last month but found myself completely unable to summon up the energy to do some painting. Picked up a brush again last Friday and finished these yesterday. What a relief to get back into painting, pleased with managing to push past that block.

Now to paint the next five and their transport!

Cheers for now.

Cheers Slinky! Fairly chuffed with not-Vasquez, I should have taken a picture of the monitor on the not-smartgun

Love this color scheme and glad to see additions to the team- the osl work is really a treat!

OSL is working very nicely!

OSL turned out pretty good on those Kyn. I never really attempt OSL because I'm always afraid I'll ruin what would otherwise be a solid paintjob, like I'll massively overdo the OSL effect or something. Maybe I just need to give it a try sometime.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

THIS! It took me forever to risk what was otherwise a nearly finished model by attempting OSL, and I still can't do it to present the look I want. What I have learned- as I'm going forward trying to do it- is that fixing the effect doesn't add a lot of time to the job.

I'm not at the point to where I'll paint it out and try again (I either leave it as is or restore it to original 'no osl' factory settings), but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Rock on, all y'all!

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. OSL is my favourite technique as it creates such an interesting dynamic and immediately provides a real sense of atmosphere for a miniature. I imagine the mineral rich moon I emulated for the bases bathed in endless twilight lit by strange growing crystals and from out of the gloom and ice hideous monsters try to devour this plucky band of Dwarves.

Zergsmasher and Meer_Cat - If you ever want to give OSL a go, my humble tips would be using very watered down paint first then steadily building up to a higher contrast on the very edges. Go for something little first and fear not!

I have the next two completed for the Kill Team, leaving just one left and the Sagitaur for the December Painting Challenge which will round off the year nicely.

Here is the two Ironkin of the squad, lovely robotic pals. The medic Alufaet, carrying precious booze for the squad and the Lokatr Hawian, who searches out various tasty ores for the group to salvage.

Cheers for now!

Cheers indeed! great idea to have the medic with a keg. It's on of those details where you'll be playing a game and your opponent will do a double take
You must have quite a chunk of the army done now?

Thanking you kindly PaddyMick! I'm certainly getting there, but then again, I still have some miniatures from March that aren't painted

Quick little photo I took of the latest update for my Sagitaur.

This is to go with the Kill Team squad as their base of operations vehicle. It's mostly complete, fun little project to find bits from all of my leftovers. It needs a canvas cover to finish it off as I want to give it a Chrismassy sleigh vibe.

Need to get the whole thing painted before the month is out though!

Terrific trailer for the mobile command post- very well integrated into the whole assembly!

Satcom antenna for the trailer?

Cheers Meer_Cat! Yes I have a little radar type dealie ( I think it's from the Razorback kit?) that I wanted to add on, not sure where to stick it exactly. Any thoughts?

Thanks Not Online! I think? recipe is very easy, it's one pot in fact. Just slap a bit of tesseract glow on a white undercoat.

Much appreciated CB!

At long last, the final member of the Kill Team - Wudurec the Grenadier. Heavily burned across his face and body due to an inability to understand the phrase "danger close". Unfortunately, some genetic problem has also led to Wudurec mistaking the numbers of 3 and 5 (which as we all know, is right out).

Very pleased to get the last one done. Finished painting him on Christmas Eve, ever so slightly merry. And they are soon to go into battle on NYE which is very exciting.

I've nearly finished painting the Sagitaur but the trailer sadly not. Too much festivities.

Cheers for now!

+++ Steorra gunned the accelerator and the rapid response ATV Geþeon lurched forward at a quicker pace. The endless twilight of the moon was beaten back by the headlamps and his right ear constantly filtered the low buzz of tactical information. The display screens lit up everything in the cockpit with a blue glow, providing constant information about the Sagitaur, their cargo as well as external conditions. A sudden flash of warning lights lit up the display as the COG gunner registered targets ahead. A heartbeat later, a roar of gunfire as the MATR Autocannon ripped divots into the body of a multi-limbed alien creature cresting a hill to the right. Chatter over the tactical net increased rapidly as gutteral Dwarven curses and ancestral prayers broke out alongside range finding and troop movements. Three runes lit up green and Steorra swerved hard and braked as the gun continued to fire. "Hard up all of yous. Time to earn your beag. Let them have it! The ancestors are watching!" His voice echoing in the troop compartment as his fingers clattered over the keys and the rear bay door eased open. +++

I've had this Sagitaur in for a while so glad to have finally got it painted. On to the next project!
