I'm about to paint a Nighthaunt army, and at first I was just going to follow the box art colors for the upper cloak, but I thought purple Nighthaunts would be pretty cool instead. Could anyone suggest what colors to use? I was figuring maybe Xereus purple with Genestealer purple for highlighting maybe? I've never painted purple before lol so if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome.
Also does anyone have any purple Nighthaunts they could share for some ideas and inspiration?
I believe he was saying for you to google some tutorials, of which there are plenty, having taken the time to google purple nighthaunt or purple robes, armour etc myself.
But to provide you with an answer here, I started from a black-purple for my Eldar Exodites, airbrushed xereus purple followed by genestealer purple for highlights to achieve the look I wanted and then went back in with a brush to add ivory highlights in the form of texture lines where I have purple cloth and then glazed in the black-purple mix into the shadows.
Keep in mind that genestealer purple is like a pastel purple, so if you want rich tones, you can bring it down with a purple wash.
I've spoilered some examples, while they aren't Nighthaunt, you can port the ideas from these to your minis with ease.

I would recommend to pair up your purples to some sort of brown or orange color.
I would recommend to get any purple color and try mixing it with other colors to see what color swatches you can comeup with! When you nail down on the color you like, you can go to the local hobby shop with your swatches and buy paint that is comes close to the color you came up with.
I would advise not to get stuck watching too many tutorials, as there is a physiological element to seeing a finished model in the end of tutorial sets sense of satisfaction of completion.

Oh I did misread his statement, but I did also google pictures and went through some tutorials but didn't find one that I really liked a lot so I was hoping to find more to learn from. It's just a pet peeve to simply be told "google it". Like duh of course I googled it... In my defense I did try to delete this post after I made it but I couldn't figure out how XD as I had the feeling I would get exactly that reply.
Those cloaks are great though I really like how they came out with that technique, thank you for sharing them! It's good to see how certain colors will work with each other. The bows came out really good too.

Ooh ok thats really good advice thank you! I wasnt sure on what accent color to do so maybe I will give like a red-brown a shot. I definitely get caught up on too many tutorials lol, I end up just getting painting paralysis with indecision and then make stupid posts like this lol.

Post is not stupid lolz, Reason I advise to not get caught up in many tutorials is because I am the same way.
When I was looking for a color scheme for my DE I spend days looking up pictures and painting videos and! I noticed every time when i wanted to work on my DE instead of working on them I would do more (research) and afterwards seeing enough finished models I was kinda full. After research I no longer wanted to work on the DE. Now I do minimal quick duckduckgo search to get an idea, and then just mix paint and go for it. Otherwise nothing would get done I honestly believe that psychological element has to do with Dopamine hit from seeing things finished.
The accent color could be anything you fancy in addition to the purple / orange combo! The brown/orange is more of a secondary color. And the reason for brown/orange is because that is the contrast color for the purple/blue. Easiest way to tell when looking for the contrasting color is to see what color is opposite on the color wheel from the purple you like. (example picture)
Purple and brow/orange is a very very common color combination because it is high in contrast and many artist use it. Just few images I threw together from hearhstone and mtg, If there is blue/purple there is a very good change there will be contrasting warm brown or orange/yellow! You can take inspiration from the opposite color contrasts on the color wheel, and see combo you can come up with.
Hope this helps Now actually painting the models in purple and what paint pots to buy you would have to watch a tutorial. I HAVE NOT WATCHED these, hope it is useful

Oh wow thank you! That picture of gul'dan there the set from WoW he's wearing is my favorite set in the game, a recolored version of it at least, the deep dark purple one. The Coven Regalia set or something from ICC. You sir, have solidified my inspiration. Thank you for posting these and grabbing those youtube videos! I will definitely watch them thank you for takin the time to do that. When I first posted this I was just going to do the cloak purple but I'm liking the idea of the ghostly tendrils and clouds as purple too so maybe a red-brown cloak and purple ghost parts.. Damn idk lol. But tysm for your input those pictures actually helped a lot!
Glad you found it useful! The gul'dan image is using few color contrast combos, the purple and the orange is one, and when the orange turns into the red it is contrasted with the green background! Because red and green are opposite on the color wheel
