Will all the rules in Psychic awakening be in these new codexes and supplements? If they weren’t and you didn’t have PA then that’s a third one you need and if they are and you already have the PA book for your army the you wasted you money. I agree a 20 pound book should last longer than a year and be more than a stop gap.

Fm what I’ve read many of the rules in PA will be in, but changed. I.e. the mast of sanctity, Chief apothecary/librarian mast of the forge stuff will be in the codex, but different and points/pl based instead of cp based.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

I bet black templars will need PA for their supplement level stuff

In addition to detailed lore on all the First Founding Chapters and some of their most famous successors (such as the Black Templars and Crimson Fists), the new codex is the biggest ever, with a whopping 98 datasheets covering all of the common units available to the armies of the Adeptus Astartes.

It will serve as a core book for future codex supplements that will formally reintroduce each Chapter’s bespoke units and Characters (we’ll have more on these later). Existing codex supplements such as that of the Ultramarines are still perfectly compatible with the new book, and we’ll be providing the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Deathwatch, and Space Wolves with get-you-by rules so you’ll be good to go from the outset.

The new codex has also consolidated many of the most popular rules features that first made an appearance in the various Psychic Awakening books. The Chapter Command rules are one such example, meaning you’ll be able to upgrade one of your Chapter’s Chaplains, Librarians, Techmarines, and a variety of other Characters to the head of their order, but at a small cost in Power or points instead of using a Stratagem.

Maybe. Maybe not.

that to me says BTs will have their chapter tactics in the book like everyone else, but will need to go to their supplement (in the BTs case that is PA: F&F) for their unique supplemental materials

So, how would a DA player go about this? Keep playing Codex: DA until next year, or would he have to use Codex:Space Marines and not field any unique units until the supplement drops?

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

they'd use the new space marine codex, and assuming GW follows precident they'll release a free PDF with all their old unique stuff given offical stats there for free. the big question is if GW will do ANY updates to it, or just C&P from the last codex, sticking space wolves with 1W grey hunters etc. until their supplement releases

I thought GW were explicit when they announced 9 that you 8th codexes would still be valid, so surely you would play DA with the current DA codex, PA supplement and Stalin’s updates via FAQs so you can up your mating to 2 wounds. You might benefit from no point increases unless they come eight stat line updates.

Although I suppose of DA are due a supplement then you might aswell get the SM codex anyway

no what GW said is that faction specific supplements will still be valid. So If you run Ultramarines your old supplement will be 100% compatable with the new codex.

Probably a little bit of both. The new Speeder datasheet on the codex preview shows the Ravenwing keyword. It does not point to a codex page number. I hope those are not the final datasheets because there's a typo/versioning error on the Heavy Intercessors, but Ravenwing is probably not in the main codex, beyond some don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it fluff. So you can probably get your chapter tactic, you can probably get your keywords, it'll probably have that boiler plate errata we've seen from a half a dozen starter sets for changing Captain/Librarian/etc names and <CHAPTER> keywords. Special Characters, and DW/RW rules will probably wait until the supplement. Their Aircraft, Darkshroud, and Vengeance is going to be interesting. Bare minimum datasheets to hold you over for a few months until Supplement? They didn't have Stormtalons, (They shouldn't have a Master of the Forge.)

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
