Just finished my first venatari custodian. Awsome models from FW, but a pain to paint. I swapped the head for a saggitarum guard helm, because I don't like the bare heads the venatari come with.

Let me know what you think.

Hello !

Very nice ! They are indeed very well detailed models but really enjoyable to paint !
How did you make your "gold" armor if you don't mind me asking ?

Thanks.

The armor is made by basecoating retributor armor. Then shade twice with reikland fleshshade. First highlight with auric armor gold, second highlight with liberator armor, third highlight with a 50:50 mix of liberator gold and stormhost silver, final hightlight (very sparingly) with just stormhost silver.
Then create a glaze from reikland fleshshade and glaze in gradients between your highlights into the areas you want darker. Create a glaze from nuln oil and glaze sparingly just into the deepest recesses. This method takes time, but is very controlled.

Hope this helpes.

Lovely mini and some lovely gold to boot. Thanks for the explanation on the gold too, it's very effective!

Tiberias, that's a good looking Custodes. Well done.

I'm wondering if their "jet-wings" would fit onto the back of a Primaris Inceptor with little trouble?

FW has a lot of cool bits that'd be useful for conversion projects.
