Those shoes will barely carry that one tiny child for a few months, and they still have to walk themselves! The transport can carry multiple people under its own locomotion, and will likely do so for several years before eventually becoming obsolete from edition changes. It's no contest, really.

Allbeit of course geography did protect from such little incidents like the arab caliphates (allbeit the barbary pirates did kidnap english aswell to sell into slavery), the various turkish and mongol groups, timurids? etc.

Truth is, we humans often like to hate each other, love money, and have shown multiple times over that we often don't let morals and "ethics" dictate with which we trade and in what goods we trade.
