You reckon with C19 that GW will still offer us Xmas Army boxes this year?

Any whisperings on what might be on offer this time round?

they useally don't get announced until december.

I'm kinda hoping they release dark imperiums halves this year as battle boxes.

I only started (re started) 40k back last sept but I think they were leaked end of oct last year?

I am also curious, as it will be probably my last purchase from a UK manufacturer before trade disruptions and price hikes kick in, at least until the dust settles down.

If you refer to 'Brexit' I wouldnt worry too much at the moment. Plenty of time for things to change(and change again...and again) before end of the year yet.

I think GW has an event planned for Oct. 31st. Matches up with last year, maybe then?

It would be nice if GW could make some cool new GK models, but there is a zero chance of that happening. There is probably no one at the studio that plays GK, so there is no one the champion new models or rules.

Slightly less for slightly more.

I can imagine the pound getting pounded so to speak for a while, but GW being GW won't update their pricing abroad, it'll just be cheaper to order from the UK.

Nothing yet, it would not actually surprise me if GW didn't do them this year and might try something else - eg vouchers/money off select products etc... If just because they don't have their normal factory operations up and running and have already had problems getting stock to the global market.

Giving people discounts on current produce might spike demand on them, but GW could be smart and spread it out to include stock that they hold in larger amounts etc...


Who knows perhaps they'll do more than normal or less or something.


Anyway it seems that the Warhammer Day on the 31st might be when we hear about it; otherwise we might not hear till November

The recent voucher emails seemed to suggest that GW was hoping for extra cashflow, sooner rather than later. Announcing Xmas boxes now could well also reduce sales until the boxes are actually available, because players will wait in order to take advantage of any discount later.
That, plus the time-limited nature of those vouchers, suggests to me that we've got a couple weeks left yet before any Xmas boxes are announced, and when they are it'll be because they're damn near ready to start selling straight away.

It might be the voucher system was a dry run for a Christmas voucher promotion. Letting GW iron out the wrinkles and test the market before committing to a scheme over the Christmas period.

Think I must have missed this voucher system thing.

Christmas boxes are generally great money makes both short and long term so I would be shocked to not see any come out this year, even with Covid.

My guesses are Sisters, Crons, Marines, and some flavor of Chaos for 40k and Slaanesh, Kharadron, Stormcast and Lizardmen for AoS.

Happens with electronics all the time. Everything from TVs to video cards to phones go down in price after a couple months. If you want the newest 'bleeding edge' release every month you're out of luck, but a little patience will see prices drop fast.

Yeah, the Dark Vengeance sprues may have been well done in terms of getting content on there, but both it and Dark Imperium suffer from being difficult to parcel units out later.

Indomitus (and derived starters) are in a much better position in this regard.

aye, tough maybee gw decides to throw cultists together using the GSC box (because weapons overlap and model overlap in regards to weaponry) and some of the files for the other cultists together to get a decent working unit?

Cultists should have remained as Alpha Legion only. Their inclusion in all the legions was just another repercussion of gw sticking all of the legions in a blender and turning them into a bland paste of shared ingredients, same as letting all the legions take any of the cult marines, or marks. I miss 3.5.

Disposable cannon fodder? No. But cultists? Probably. Most other legions would use other forms. Like L&D, R&H, etc. Sorry for agreeing with you. I'll try not to do that again.
