I was reading about Khorne devoted warriors and I was confused by one thing. All of Khorne's followers seem to be berserkers and rage filled. Does Khorne have any followers who train to be elite swordsman, or anybody who cares about style/skill? Cause every time I read about chaos all of his followers just try to hack and slash.

They do vary - some do perfect thier skills = many just want to kill and take skulls

Ahazian Kel, Deathbringer, Scion of the Ekran, Walker of the Eightfold Path, kinslayer and regicide might be more what you are looking for.

Valkia the Bloody is also highly skilled.

Thanks! After reading his page, I must admit that I enjoy his character a lot. It seems that he is the first Khorne devoted follower who retains some sort of personality.

Depends on the author

Highly recomend Spear of Shadows for great character based adventure in the Mortal Realms - he is one of the main POV characters - but there are alot of characters.

there is also

When does it take place?

Spear of Shadows?

Unfortunately they have never been very clear with dates but its following the Realmgate Wars I think - when all powers are manuevering for advantage and Sigmar and Nagash are not at war so the dead are not technically enemies. Also some factions had not yet been introduced.

A good few centuries after Realmgate Wars, an unknown amount of time before Soul Wars.

Khorne does have more depth to both him and his followers--theoretically. For whatever reason GW has not seen fit to encourage such in the fluff for some time. Only the blood-blood-rage-blood-skull-ragey-bloodrage is really showcased without a whole lot of exception (the above mentioned being a good one). IMO this state of things is deeply unfortunate. The Chaos Gods always read as so much better written when they have some depth to them; adding more human-like aspects highlights just how inhuman they are.

For example, Khorne warriors charging into a town and murdering everyone they come across is nasty, but also blunt. It doesn't feel malicious, and describing how much they lust for blood and murder doesn't help. It comes across as an impartial animal-like thing without conscious decision. A swarm of locusts may cause mass famine and death by eating all the crops, but there is no morality to it.

Compare to a bunch of Khorne warriors who charge into a village and kill anyone defending it while specifically ignoring non-combatants. Because those aren't worthy kills. Then once everyone who defended the village is dead they turn around and kill the non-combatants too, because Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows. This simultaneously shows a level of human logic while twisting it to the point of insanity. It is far more hideous than the previous example because of that, even though the end result is the same.

Better is that not all followers need be the same; one Khorne tribe could do the latter example while another the former, and both fervently believe they have the right way of it. This even makes the straight rage-junkies better by proximity because they now have other aspects to contrast against. Themes like honor, strategy, and freedom can be quite horrifying when turned to distorted extremes. Honor can mean it is disfavored to kill the helpless until after the fighters are dead. Strategy can mean allowing an enemy commander to escape knowing he will rally more troops for war. Tactics can mean drawing battle plans that maximize casualties on both sides. Freedom can mean freedom to kill whoever you like. 'Evil' themes like bloodlust can also be turned around, like a beleaguered group of soldiers surviving through a sheer will to fight, or a desire to intimidate a foe by defeating their greatest champion in single combat, and these are great when writing stories about people falling into worship of Khorne (see the Red Feast novel for an excellent rendition).

There is more to Khorne if you dig around for it and I find it a shame that usually isn't highlighted in the fluff.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Re. “Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows” while this is true I know his followers HAVE gotten in trouble with him for presenting non-combatant’s skulls/deaths as worth anything. He still expects you to kill them and they are valid as a resource for summoning demons but they aren’t something to brag about.

As for why Khorne has the berserkers; Slanesh is the reason. Khorne’s top warriors may be crazy good but the kill itself is their primary goal. A chaos follower that’s interested in becoming a more skilled fighter is more likely to fall into the obsessive pursuit of perfection associated with Slanesh. Both of them have warriors trying to prove they’re the best but while the Slaneshi one is trying to find and defeat greater challenges they can to prove it while ignoring lesser enemies the Khorneate will be slaughtering anything they can perceive.

I’ll admit I know most of my lore from 40k but it’s generally cross compatible in this case.

It's isn't cross compatible. It's not even really true in 40k. The obsessive perfectionist nonsense is an overblown Emperors Children thing (and more pre heresy than post, it's something they lose as they fall to chaos) not a Slaanesh thing. Excess and new experiences aren't compatible with perfecting a single obsession, and that's what Slaanesh is about. Go through the Slaanesh section of various daemon codexes- perfection doesn't really come up at all.

It also has nothing to do why GW hyper-focuses on berserkers for Khorne, despite that not being the be all and end all of bloodshed and violence.

The daemon Skulltaker is considered one the best duelists in both AoS and 40K and has a minor sense of honor in that it hunts down the mightiest of warriors and always salutes its opponents before attacking.

There are many aspects of Khorne - highly skilled, martial warriors to the blood crazed berserker. Most of the Khorne Generals are the former but their troops are the latter.
