I bought this a couple of months back. I just did an unboxing video for this T'au Empire Pathfinder Team set:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZcEvJgaoNs

I've zero knowledge how they play so a question:

Why are they considered a strong faction in Kill Team when they've a Ballistic Skill of 4+?

Will test play these guys like there's no tomorrow soon as I'm done assembling them.

From what I remember you can take 5 stealthsuits in a team. And they all have fly.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Drones, Stealthsuits, long range basic weapons and Rail Rifles. That's what makes them good.

The S5 basic weapons are nice for plowing through damage on the targets you manage to hit, but the 15" half range on your basic weapons allow you to ignore the long range penalty for the most part.

The Drones are great for catching the shots aimed at your important pieces (Stealthsuits and Railrifle Pathfinders), and aren't so bad themselves when you consider each of their carbines is a gun, and rolls individually for attack/to wound/damage rolls. You can use weight of dice per gun to try and drown an opponent in shots when desperate.

And Stealthsuits, well... they really are just grand. Harder to hit, carry heavier weapons, and a decent save with multiple wounds. Yeah, why aren't you using one (if you aren't) haha.

Speaking of which, I'm considering a box of pathfinders to complement my trio of stealth suits.

Advisable?

Thanks guys! I was thinking that hitting on 4+ but at long range + target obscured = hitting on 6s but I forgot the rail rifle has a 30" range and this faction has the dreaded sniper + comms + auspex (the recon drone) combo. So worst case scenario (obscured and at over 15") that's still rerolling ones (Sniper) + comms passive + careful aim + recon drone = hitting on 3+ and rerolling ones = will only miss on a 2 since you re-roll a result of one (and if you do, you still have a 4/6 chance of hitting).

VERY. In fact, the Pathfinder box is THE core unit of any T'au Empire kill team. Rail Rifles and the recon, shield, and gun drones are the linchpin of the squad. ^_^

I guess a box of them will be in the post then!

Cheers.

Glad to help! #SupportKillTeam ^_^

BTW, if you're interested I recently made a "T'au Pathfinder Team Unboxing" video SamusDrake!

If you're curious about what the sprues look like, you might want to take a peek. ^_^

Not bad for £25, I must say.

Oh, and you need to definitely get those scout snipers out of their box! When I returned to the hobby with Lost Patrol I picked them up as an "expansion". Fantastic kit and a great addition to the regular scouts.

Yeah been meaning to do so for well over a year now haha! I've largely been playing my Eldar, Ork, and Death Guard kill teams though and the LGS has players that has mostly Space Marines collections so it was refreshing to field other factions on the table (before the pandemic hit).

Will defo give it an unboxing video too!

Have a gander at my channel SamusDrake! I've uploaded three Faction Focus videos already: Eldar, Death Guard, and a Reivers-and-Intercessors-focused guide. ^_^ Subscribe if you find the content useful! ^_^
