That flooring is simply excellent! That's the kind of idea I had for my own space marines (basing is space hulk/starship themed) but wasn't sure on how to execute it.

The blue you've chosen is an excellent compliment to your yellow accents, adds some good interest.

I also raised the 'box' and sprayed it matt black. Its starting to come together nicely, IMHO.

The colour is necromunda inspired. I find a lot of that early stuff used good colour theory and was fun to look at. It would be very easy to go gunmetal and call it a day.

I've used granny grating, aluminium mesh and fine plastic mesh- by far this is the best thing Ive used. Its not as regular as aluminum and cant be used without a supporting structure, but because its adhesive tape, its so easy to put on.
The hardest part of using scrim tape is finding the darn beginning! You'll find it in the plastering section of hardware stores- this roll cost me 6ish euros.

Knocked out the door yesterday. After i applied the freehand,
I used contrast Pink in the recesses, giving a nice rich shade withoit using nuln oil, which might turn the red brown. Sponge weathering with black and silver and a lottle brush work for vertical scrapes to suggest the movement of the door.

Testing the lights now. I wanted the door to be downlit to draw the eye and emphasise the surface texture.

Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Great work with all that weathering. The streaks of oil everywhere are my favorite touch and I'll have to remember to try contrast paints instead of nuln oil next time I'm using a bright colour.

I was debating whether the walls of the ship should be clean, with maybe a little paint peeling, especially up high where there would be no contact with people.

I settled on the idea that there is a smoke belching engine somewhere in the ship, and the soot circulates with the air, lining the walls where condensation allows. Molds, dirt and grease form where no servitors or ratings can reach, especially in spaces where the ships officers don't frequent, like this passage leading to a hangar for transported Imperial Guard.

There are grander hangars for Navy personnel and warmasters etc, with nicer corridors filled with exotic woods, gold leaf, marble and skulls.

Very nice work yet again, appreciate the effort you're making on the background and what your reasoning is for the weathering choices.

Update!

First these robed guys are getting base coated. I tried to zenithal highlight but the white paint can started spitting! These are background elements so I dont mind too much.

I worked hard on this transparency! First it got a coat of matt varnish to allow paint to adhere. Then I painted the planet using a purple wash. I then applied matt black over the space areas to minimise reflections.

The back is coated chrome to keep light from bleeding through. The back then got stabbed a bunch of times with a compass. I drew bands on the choime back to try concentrate stars in one and have them thin out gradually across the other bands.

I had initially tried to get nebula effects by scratching the chrome and allowing light to bleed through, but I hated the way it looked. So, another coat of chrome. I ended up adding more pronounced pin holes because the original ones were a bit small.

This means there will be different size stars, or some will be brighter than others, which I am pleased with.

Here you can see how Ive attached it to the window, and the fact that I work listening to the rich baritone of Kevin Conroy.

That's why I'm ordering every available ship to report for duty. Anyone without a ship should secure a weapon and fire wildly into the air.

The Transport ship Theseus approaches the Planet Mortsan. Minutes before embarkation on the assault landers, Lord Commander Harm pauses to view the world on his way to the hangar.

I'm calling this project done. Not everything worked out like I planned. I lost my escort ship somehwere along the way and the gangway is a little tilted where it meets the door.
I switched from an idea of having prayer strips massed around the window to spread around, on cables and by the devotional poster. I imagine the strips also help the techpriests route cable.

This has been a lot of fun to do. I'll let you explore the album rather than post every photo here. I'll post updates here whan I take new photos.

And lights on

I have barely used this in two years, as I have been basing my 40k minis in an orange desert scheme that clashes with the style of the ship. I have been getting into Shadow War Armageddon, and this is a killteam I built for that game, on nice industrial bases.

Would love to play that again but no one else seems interested :(

I bought two of those Shadow War Armageddon boxes because it was a steal for all that terrain. Never actually played the game though!

SWA is supported by Battlescribe (archived because it was superceded by Killteam 2018) so putting together a team is very, very easy. The core rules are necromunda based, so if you have any skirmish players they may already be familiar with those.
It can be played on a killteam sized playing area (though this will favour short ranged teams and limit maneuvre- its a good way to learn the rules by forcing teams to interact) and if anyone has boarding action terrain that would work well.

It's worth seeing if you can cajole a few 40k/KT/necro players into a themed night using the rules- you may need to run around being the rules guy.

Hey, nice use of that platformer kit! Have been trying to come up with some use for em myself.

Cheers
