US subs: Have you guys gotten your January shipment or are they way behind this month? Just wondering as I had a small hiccup with billing due to moving and I need to know if I need to email them asking if they forgot about me.

Mine showed up last Thursday or Friday.
The 3rd binder was in this shipment.

Cool, thanks, guys. I'll shoot them a message.

Edit: Yep, the hiccup caused by changing my billing address for my card meant I wasn't flagged in the system to have my pack shipped.

They did exactly this for the Aggressors, using the old OOP easy to build mold instead of using the current one, so I wouldn’t assume that at all.

At this point, has anyone seen any new issues at Barnes and Noble? I haven’t seen anything in months in the four stores near me.

At the time Imperium was released in the UK, the ETB Aggressors were still regular product and not OOP. So no, when they designed the sub, they didn't pull out an OOP mold just for it. Conversely, when they added more issues, the ETB Redemptor WAS OOP.

B&N stopped carrying around the early 20's because they had hoards of the painting issues going to returns each month and corporate decided the sales of the other issues didn't counter the wasted stock.

This is wrong. The ETB Aggressors were out of stock for a long time when Imperium started in the UK. ETB Agressors have been OOP since before 9th came out.

Here, issue 26 came (and maybe 27, I can’t remember), then issue 11 (I know, weird), and then things stopped.

Conquest was all coloured plastic, which suggests that the sprues for the magazines are made specifically for the magazines - they're not just sourcing stock from wherever (although there might be a bit of this, hence the switch to grey plastic to allow it).

So I don't think it's a case of them caring particularly which mold gets used. The advantage of using the old kit is they can re-use the build/paint page assets from Conquest. But it's a minor advantage.

I think the choice for ETB is two-fold:
* Easier for starting players with limited experience, for whom the magazine is developed. (I often wonder how many starting players spend $1,000+ on a weekly magazine, but that’s another discussion)
* Retain the value of the multi-part kit. “You want a better model with more weapon options? We got you covered (for extra moneys!)”

The switch to grey plastics is, I suspect, to make painting easier. Covering up that bright blue is not always easy.

At issue 80+ the starting players with no experience will have almost two years of experience at that point though (including many non-ETB kits).
Having said that, we got Necron Flayed Ones in issue 15 so I'm not entirely sure they're considering the difficulty of the build at all!

That’s very true, I didn’t think about the flayed ones.

It’s all just guess work anyways.

I think it's a function of sprue count. They have an estimate amount of miniatures they want to deliver in total. If they can have the same miniatures in less sprues (2 vs 3 for the aggressors, 2 vs 1 for assault intercessor), they will use those. If they don't have starter set sprues, they use the full kit. At the beginning of the part work, the use the ETB figures so people can test out the painting scheme and get used to painting without the risk of incomplete units in case they mess up (also, the first issues are extremely cheap, so it makes sense the contain the cheapest miniatures in terms of production cost).
As the target audience is adults (which teen can spend 10€ every month, i sure couldn't) modeling skill plays a minor role I would guess.

Kids and adults with kids are the target demographic. It's a reasonable enough amount that a parent can say "Do X chores and do your homework and you can get this thing", especially if they also check the actual retail value of the kits that are in the lineup.

It looks like 83 and 84 have sold out? Forbidden Planet doesn't have them available but it does have 85 and 86...

Do we even know what they are yet?

I wonder if 83 and 84 just haven't been listed yet? Because if they've sold out they sold out super fast as they weren't up this morning when I checked last.

Also note that I've defaulted to just ordering them (as I only want heroes I only need 1 issue) on pre-order and cancelling if they don't work out. It's the only way now that there's so much attention on the collection

Given 81 and 82, I'm guessing 83 is the third Paragon?

Not necessarily, they could split them up as they've done that in the past. Might depend on how the sprue is setup. If the individual sprue can be built on their own then they could put something else there; if they all interconnect and you need all 3 to build each one then they'd have to keep them together.

Seems a bit odd, doesn't it? Like you I've been checking fairly frequently and I've never known them to sell out so fast. Will keep checking this week and hope to see them appear at some stage. I've come this far - it would be frustrating to miss some issues now.

Might be odd, but then again these aren't going on sale for a month or more so could just be a lax element in updating the listings. Could also be Hattchetworks being a pain not releasing certain info that's needed to generate the listings for the magazines.

FP list a lot for sale across many ranges so it might have just slipped into a different batch of content for updating. Heck maybe the 83-84 are mistakes and they'll have to back-add the other previous two.

It's absolutely been created with kids in mind, and getting them into the hobby - its pretty clear from how they are written and laid out that are all ages. €10 a month really isn't that much. I mean White Dwarf is €9 isn't it?

Maybe he means 10 a week? As pretty sure the price for magazine is about 10 per magazine 4 a week?

But still I doubt 10e/week for hobby for parents is such a deal breaker. I know my nieces have hobbies that cost way more than that(horse riding which is about 20 euro's per lesson. Weekly...)

Depends largely does parent see that as a hobby worth funding over soccer/horse riding/basketball/whatever. Or allow both(one of my nieces had 3 hobbies at once Dance, horse riding and handball).

Of course doesn't apply for every family but ultimately it's not so much can teen afford but can parents afford the kid's hobby.

Seems a bit strange. You are going to be sent issues 81 and 82 only for a punter to return them if they don't want them. Fine for me, I'm going all the way to 90 but surely it would have been better to give the customer the option to stop at 80.

Well, take this as a heads up for the all the non-UK subscribers and get your rejection in early if you don't want anything past issue 80.

It's probably because of how production is done. Remember whilst they are 4 issues they are sent to subscribers in one shipment. So the warehouse/packing system they use is likely all setup for 1 order of 4 magazines and its more cost effective for them to do it that way than double their postage and shipping splitting it into two waves sent at the same time.

They then bank on people not wanting to go through the hassle of sending the two issues back; or more people being tempted to last out to 90 and not cancelling in the first place.

86 - 90 are now up on fauxhammer.

The Dreadnough is over three issues.

I am going to have such a pile of plastic to get through once I'm home in May.
