Maybe that’s why I don’t like her?
I dunno, she just doesn’t strike a chord with me. The hair and face aren’t doing it for me, the dress is nice but not a fan of the ultra skinny style.
Like all the Underworld vamps, mostly liked the old WHFB vamps (except for Vlad), but this one and the bat hair lady fail to catch me.

Combine her, Kritza, and Radukar, and you have quite an entourage heading to the ball.
Like seriously, they look like they're heading to a formal event and I love it. Casually striding along the battlefield as if it was a walk in the garden. That's the kind of smug aura I'd expect from vampires.

Torn.
Love the simplicity, hate the base.
Not entirely sold on face, hair or sword (though the masque for the face is a nice touch)
'Blade Proboscian'... hurts me. I'm assuming proboscis as in a mosquito or other blood sucking insect is the root here, but... come on now. Bit too 'on the nose' on several levels.

Good point!
I definitely like it, as it conures up not quite right movement, which adds to the visual horror. At least it does for me.

Yeah, they are definitely more contorted than classic vamps, for lack of a better word.

Pretty close to a perfect model, imo.
The base is unfortunate for aesthetic reasons, but at the end of the day I'd rather have weird-shaped bases that accommodate models than smaller bases that require model to overhang in multiple directions.

I am somewhat bothered that they use bit larger base then nomarl but there is nothing. Not even frills.
Imagine if there was zombie/thrall butler helping with her dress? Some detail like that.

Face ripped off from this:
https://youtu.be/DipI_jJwKw8
As a Lahmia player I am always intrigued for new female vampires but her visage would be better fitting for the Nosferatu faction. Her dress looks nice but not a fan of the mask and her overall anorexic appearance.
Though biggest failure is the hair. It's as stupid as the hair of some of the new Redemptionists. Hard pass.

Wow, I think that model sets the new record for most ridiculous official base/model combo. I suppose we should be lucky she's not also jumping off something and in mid air supported only by her hair.
Does base size matter in AOS? Does it affect a model's effectiveness in close combat?

To a degree, depending on the reach, based size and quantity of the enemy.
As ever, the larger your base, the more people can get into BTB. Especially stuff like Ossiarch infantry which are probs the fightiest unit on 25mm bases.

That's because Tim Burton is crazy about German Expressionist films, hence the characters with eye shadow, buildings that are bent and crooked, etc. This is the film genre Nosferatu is part of, and I've said it before, but the last two vampires (and Mace dude from underworlds) draw heavy, heavy influence from. (Which I'm all for, since I pulled a Tim Burton and went on a German Expressionist binge during Covid) Automatically Appended Next Post:
I think she's just for AOS. Like the ratguy (the vid confirmed he was in the soulblights army), they've got bases painted brown. Cursed City models will always just have a black base

They’re also refreshingly not AoSofied.
Now I really like the craziness of AoS, and have a fair number of Ossiarchs. But to see an Old World army not redesigned for the sake of redesigning is very welcome. I mean, there’s nothing previewed so far which would look out of place slotted into an Undead army that’s been collected over the decades.
Sure. They’re not gonna rank up without perhaps a scenic approach to the unit, but that’s to be expected, and given that’s not exactly a concern of the design team not really a point for criticism as such.
But those that rebased, or indeed didn’t, won’t have a force looking overly patchwork if they add to it.

~I'm starting to think that GW are getting crafty!!
Instead of unique models that are neat, but which don't really fit existing armies perfectly like they had with BF for 40K; they are much more going for almost putting half a core army for one faction (vampires) into Cursed City. At the very least this makes every vampire player an almost certain Cursed City buyer; but also means that a lot of people who get into the side game now have a direct avenue into AoS.
I actually really like it; one downside for me with BF that kept me putting things to the bottom of the buying list was that quite a few were nice models, but not core army models. For a product with a short term product window this can be a downside because it means that people pass on things. For GW it also means that they invest into loads of plastic sculpts that have a short term window that's also tied to cardstock and other peripheral products. I hate to think that the only reason we don't have Zoats and the walkers and such from BF is that GW has no product window for them after the gmae and doesn't want/doesn't have etc.... a desire to keep it going with all its cardstock and other items.

What do you mean? The only vampires with really weird hair are:
*Her
*Bat-hair
*The rat guy
*the vampire woman from underworlds
*Potentially The Wolf from cursed city, according to one warcom article
I'm not seeing a pattern here

Ulfenkarn is a city in the Realm of Shyish. Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is a part of the Age of Sigmar setting.

Pretty nice model. I really like the rat one as well. One has to wonder if the big bases mean higher prices for the characters compared to other clampacks, though.

I think larger bases like this are a way to make character models stand out more on the table, without carting around half a building they can be heroically jumping over.
Might just be me, but I'd take this any day over whatever the hell they did with the Eversor / Callidus Assassin models.

It’s also nice when the base size matches the mini. I’ve got an old Vampire Lord from way back with a cape out to the side. When ranking him up with a unit, I needed to leave a empty slot next to him.
You run into similar issues getting things like genestealers into base-to-base contact. You’ve got claws and spikes stretching a good half inch over the base in every direction.
I’m really liking the overall direction the soulblight are taking. Might have to grab some just as painting projects. Almost done with my half of the SoulWars nighthaunt. And who knows, might play a game someday.

Some characters do need larger bases, this one is a little over the top but dont mind it, I think what makes this one weird is its sideways on an oval which I think only the slaanesh units have had and usually is for 2 models on 1 base. Though this also is weird with the new lumineth elf duo hero being 2 on what looks like a 32mm when they might have worked better on an oval with the mage jumping off a rock to the side.
Playing vs my friends with my sisters of battle they can never tell which unit is the imagifier or canonness as they are all on 32 and look the same as line troops or simulacrum bearers, with oddly the hospitallier being the only one easy to spot due to 40mm base.
My view is characters and important support models should always be on slightly bigger bases.

I don't think GW is getting crafty only now. I can immediately think of self-contained games like Deathwatch Overkill and Silver Tower who did for Genestealer Cults and Tzeentch what Cursed City is doing for undead, and I'm inclined to put the Horus Heresy games in the same category. It seems to me that Blackstone Fortress is the one that stands out with only Kill Team Rogue Trader to keep it company as a means of releasing obscure models that don't tie in with a full army (yet).
I don't know what GW plans to do with these kits, but I agree it would be good to get stand alone releases of the Blackstone Fortress models when the game has fully run its course. It's just so hard to tell if that's actually going to happen. On the one hand GW seems to be happy to release limited run stuff, make as much profit off it as they can and never think to do anything with it again. On the other hand, we got the Cultists out of that one expansion as a regular Chaos Marine box now (and even at a reasonable price when you think about it). And now they've also released the characters from the last two 40k starter sets (at a not so reasonable price...). So yeah, I hope more of Blackstone Fortress wins the release lottery, but who can really say?

On BSF, I do note that in the Stained Glass stuff from the SoB previews, they’re chinning Cultists matching the BSF design.
That might be a sign of things to come for The Naughty Faction.
