Jokes on you GW is reading the poll results and re-sculpting first born marines

have to remember for some reason AoS is given more design space, and 40k only has enough time for space marines and their variants.

But that is not true. sisters got new models, necron , DG and tech adepts too. And very few armies don't get anything.

And spacemarines themself don't get much specific models either. It is mostly a character or two, and then they get the replacment primaris.

All the new updated armies got a ton of more stuff out of their updates, then lets say SW or DW got out of theirs. And sisters are even getting a wave two of new models.

Just a model line as large as the releases every other faction gets in any given year, yup.Just a number of kits equivalent to four consecutive sisters army relaunches.

As an EC fan, I am contractually obligated to select EC as the #1 most important thing on any potential agenda. Wouldn't want to stand in the way of a Craftworld revamp though

In general I think there are several armies they could announce next that none of the other 'in need of help' armies would really begrudge.

Any chaos space marine, guard, or eldar basically. CSM are playing such an old janky busted version of the game right now that its sad, and eldar and guard just do not function in 9th and are in more desperate need of new models than anyone else.

I kind of like that Guard have such old models. The Armageddon Steel Legion kit is cheaper than the Cadians (at least in the U.S.) by $1 despite being pewter....

....really shows you how much Cadian plastics have increased since they used to be $20 for 20.

But those are not new SW or Deathwatch primaris. Just the same models they did once. Even the specific faction upgrade sprues are the old 8th ed ones. You are not going to tell me that blade guards should be counted as a separate release for every marine faction based on the marine codex.

Not to mention the fact that a ton of marine armies right now are build around class marine units like attack bikes, venguard veterans, old marine bike and jet pack characters or termintors. The only thing that gets used a lot are the primaris scouts, and only because the regular cheap scouts got pushed to being elite.

Y’know, honestly while the right thing to do would be update old models, what I would want is new factions. I already have enough of the old stuff and certainly won’t be rebuying to replace old functional models with overpriced reimagined stuff.

It never ends well

I'd be really happy if they just did splash releases of updates to older lines in between the codex release stuff.

This week's releases are Squigborg Squigginators, the Primaris Lieutenant Legionaries codex, and Drukhari Grotesques.
Stay tuned for a glimpse of our new boxed game WarhammerQuest: Lords of FOMO and the upcoming Noise Marine squad!

I'd seriously be more than happy with that kind of compromise.

It's also monopose, has limited weapon options, and is the only non-Cadian/Catachan choice left. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy if they just redid the old Guard sculpts in plastic as multipose kits with more than one or two weapon choices (and I'm slightly terrified that any revamp GW does of the old kits will only get "in plastic" out of that list, or that we'll fall prey to "rules based on what's in the box"), but Steel Legion being cheaper per-box ain't exactly enough to make me want them.

Well, they come with a Heavy Weapon too that the Cadian box doesn't have - and if you think Cadian's aren't monopose, I have a bridge to sell you.

You can wiggle the arms at the shoulder up and down (But still have to match them up to hold a Lasgun!) and you can point the head in different directions. But you really aren't going to get much more pose diversity if you build 60 cadians than if you build 60 Steel Legion.

Sure, but that's the only Special/Heavy weapon they (currently) get. Want your Steel Legion to be Missile Launcher/Grenade Launcher? Great! Want them to be literally anything else? Feth you, buy Cadians/Catachans instead! Want to make a Special or Heavy Weapons Squad? Hope the warehouse hasn't run out of Infantry Squad boxes!

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but everything I've seen of the squad shows it as one single cast. You're right, if you ignore mucking about with greenstuff for both, the full range of poses is pretty similar. However, there's room to do at least some differentiation between squad - I can at least have one Sergeant yelling over his shoulder while waving a sword while another just yells over his shoulder (and if I want I can break out the GS to do more). With that Steel Legion squad, all my Sergeants are standing and shooting (unless I break out the GS to do more). "Small number of not-very-meaningful options" =/= "no options whatsoever".

To be fair, if you want ANY heavy weapon for Cadians you have to buy another box entirely. You're right about the special weapons though, you have to convert them.

And sure, yeah, call the cadians "multipose" because you can rotate the arms at the shoulder and rotate the head. When there are 60 of them on the table, or 120, it's hardly anything.

EC should definitely be at the top of the list for new models together with WE and the Weakling Kin.
