No.

I like the app. I use the army builder a lot. It does have some unit bugs that drive me batty, like adding a wolf guard to a unit or some Chaos Knight Artifacts not showing up, but overall, im not too down on it. it works well for the vast majority of what i do. I also like having every book right there.

I played with the builder... It wouldn't allow me to take legal lists and kept populating an alert that my list was not legal on account of a mark of slaanesh sorcerer taking the slaanesh heretic astartes power... Anyways the app is loaded with bugs and inaccuracies. Battlescribe is head over heels more reliable in terms of accuracy and more user friendly. It's also faster because they didn't attach pictures and gak to every unit entry, which is cool but slows the software down. It also is a pain in the behind that you have to modify each individual model's loadout unlike battlescribe, and it keeps arbitrarily shuffling the order in which war gear appears.
And they are charging us $2/month to do the job of their software developers, to find the bugs... Shoulda made it free for our troubles. Feth GW for this and feth the app. Use battlescribe until at least the next major update. Also you know that the lag time behind the app and updates is going to be bonkers long, whereas typically the battlescribe devs typically get it updated within a few days.
Now on the flip side of the coin, if all rules references were a mere 5$/month, rather than charging for the book plus the subscript fee for the app, I would consider the app more worth my while. And I would feel better about starting new armies AKA buying more of GW's moneymakers, the models. But they have not...

Still can't take Berzerkers with a plasma pistol and chainaxe. For that matter, chainaxes are still listed with S+2.
Have reported these bugs numerous times since day 1, still no fix.

This was th other part of the thread that no one has commented on. I can see the rules for codexes that have been released for 9th but I have not bought them. So perhaps they are putting the latest rules in there, except that I don’t have the codexes to check that they are the lates rules.

Hadn't noticed that. I can compare the datasheets to my friend's Necron Codex the next time we play. If it's a bug, I hope they don't catch that But it would also be good value for the subscription price, if you don't need a code for all the rules.
I quite enjoy the army builder, but I have only used it for Space Marines and Sisters of Battle so far and it worked fine.

Still some bugs. A bunch were fixed that I knew about but not all. I super wish it had the ability to buy the rules in it, and it still doesn’t include Crusade rules, but overall I’m finding it quite useful anymore.
Fixed that for you.

Great suggestion. Logged out and logged back in. Warp Spider issue resolved. I'll give this a shot for my weekly league game and see if I can build a list.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

The GW app can be as good as it wants, AFAIK it still doesn't have a desktop version and I neither own nor am interested in owning a smartphone or tablet. Also, I have issues with the fact that its subscription based - if they did just release rules for it, I could tolerate that, but having to buy the rules to add to the app you're paying the sub for is too much double-dipping for my taste.
As for Battlescribe - I recall it taking a bit of getting used to, but it's never struck me as being hard to use, just a little clunky.
(For obvious reasons, I don't use the mobile app, so if that's the hangup then I would never have experienced it)

If you are finding battlescribe a bit confusing, try getting it on desktop as well as mobile.
I plan lists on the desktop, as I find it much easier to look at the rules (you just hover over the options and the rules pop up). Then once I've decided on my list I input the same list to mobile.
Once you have your final list and hit the view option in mobile, the output is very user friendly.

I don't think you can make battlescribe any easier, honestly... And agreed, GW should not be charging a subscription fee to access electronically the rules and army builder that I paid 60 dollars for for a book they are going to charge me 60 dollars to replace within another year or supplement to keep up with the power creep...

The GW army builder app is still totally trashed for Imperial Guard (adding a heavy weapon to a squad flags the squad as not having enough members, so it's impossible to validate lists fully while also bringing heavy weapons in squads).
Also can't figure out how to make an Inquisitor a psyker.
