And I'd say the Vanguard is more of an
IG and Tau mix than
SM. No one there uses power armor...
Dvar would be AWESOME Demiurg, on the other hand. Personally, it's what comes to my mind whenever I read or hear 'Demiurg'.
Vanguard Troopers wear a suit which would have power armour rules in
40K. It's too bulky to represent carapace armour.
No counterpart with
40K factions? Have to disagree with some factions:
Kir'ko = Tyranids
Dvar = Orks
Syndicate = Dark Eldar
Vanguard = Space Marines
Kir'ko have a hivemind and work best in swarms because they benefit of the SR "Swarm Shield".
Dvar are used for comic relief with their Ramships and Prospectors. Their playstyle also differs from the Vanguard in such that they prefer to engage their opponent head on like Orks and not sit back like the humans of the Vanguard.
Syndicate uses stealth and subterfuge. They also have slaves. If the
devs would have used such traits for an upcoming release of the next
AoW fantasy line for the Dark Elves it would have hit the nail on the head.
Vanguard are more akin to
SM than Imps because their specific colony upgrade allows units to accumulate XP thus turning them into elite units which is a trademark of
SM. See also my above statement about the visual aspect. Imps on the other hand are marketed in
40K as an army consisting of lots and lots of infantry and such a horde trait is already attributed by the Kir'ko.
This would leave only the Assembly and the Amazons without a strong counterpart of relatable
40K factions. I think the Eldar Exodites are riding lizards too but that would be the only resemblance.
