I'm not sure what Jid's comment has to do with the GW app. Moreover, why would one have to "purge it of all data"?

Does the GW app require a lot of storage space, perhaps?
(I wouldn't know because I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole but it's the only thing I can think of.)

I'm not sure what Jid's comment has to do with the GW app. Moreover, why would one have to "purge it of all data"? I guess he is just trying to spin the dystopian Poland narrative again. But no, PDFs in general don't need any additional data or internet once downloaded, and they also don't require a lot of space if properly done.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I have practically no free space on my phone for example. everything is taken up by school stuff, my diet stuff, lists etc.

There is zero chance that GW would be selling pdfs of their books, when they are trying to make people use their app. And if they somehow did, and it was related to buying of a physical book, then I can tell you that where I live, this would work the same way it does now. The store owners don't accept people using digital versions of GW books. On a more personal level, I traded buying a tablet for buying my army, so a potential change wouldn't help me at all. But I am assume we are talking in generalisations here. Also if you think that good internet is the norm all around the world, and that I am somehow spining something, then I really do envy you. For example the last year the main problem with online schooling wasn't just the fact that people don't have good enough PCs or laptops at home, but that the internet here is really bad. Only in really big cities it is okey.

You didn't say "I", you said "everyone". So the "purge all data" is a nonsense criticism of electronic gaming aids and just appears to be another "Woe is me!" post that you somehow find the time to bestow upon us here between scavenging for food and hiding from the mutated-robot death squads in this post-apocalyptic part of Poland from which you apparently originate.

Well okey, so it is mostly me. I don't want the game to be even less fun. And the idea that you have to have tablet to play the game is stupid. Even If I had one, I wouldn't bring one to the store people steal them all the time.
And yeah we did have an apocalyps it was called 3 wars and then 4+ decades of communism. If was some rich kid living in warsaw maybe it would be different, but I don't. the game already requires more then enough investment. But then again cosidering that some people think that the way to play the game is to invite friends to your home or driving your car to a different store, then yes a tablet doesn't seem like much of an investment.
And by the way last week we had war state called out where I live so, you know maybe don't talk about stuff you don't know about.

I just like books for the feel of it. PDFs are cool and all but nothing beats a hardback book for the satisfaction of use IMO. Get to feel like a keeper of tomes searching the texts for knowledge.
Also the irony of Karol telling people not to comment on things they don't know about. Good times.

I cannot say for sure but I recall the earlier print material published by GW being of a far higher quality in both art style, design, and critically proofread for typos and page design/layout.
These days whenever I unfortunately am forced to purchase GW print media I feel embarrassed and ashamed about it and hide it from my bookshelf. Their print materials is riddled with lazy errors that demonstrate the rushed nature of the product and the fundamental lack of respect they have for their customers.

Utilizing Careful Highlighting
|
I started with 2nd and stopped around 4th, started up again between 5th & 6th, and the last game I played was 8th with the indexes. I loved a lot of the 2nd Edition codices for art, photos & fluff. But my favorites were the 5th edition books; the layout, the amount of fluff & hand drawn art, and all the photos. The WHFB books around this time were just as good for the same reasons.
I was not a fan of the hardback books with the really washed out looking digital art, word-for-word recycled fluff, missing units/characters, and the associated price hike. Cycling through editions faster to buy inferior books for more money...

To clarify i don't feel finding older editions or older products to be superior to be a result of nostalgia goggles, sometimes improvements are nothing of the sort...

Some things were better, others worse.
2nd ed codexes were the best for background, fluff and artwork.
3rd ed cut a LOT of that, and were much more stripped down rules. While a loss in one sense, they were also far more affordable, slim, so you were not lugging a massive volume of paper to the FLGS. Which was good, as with the flux of 3rd’s rules, you probably needed a handful of other books/WDs to have everything you needed.
I like the hardbacks on the shelf, but as practical game books there is a lot that’s not needed there. Especially as an older player, I’ve seen most of the fluff and artwork. I’d rather not pay premium hardback prices for the handful of pages I’m going to need for the 2d3 years the edition is going to last.
Now, I still like to have a physical codex. Even with a tablet, referencing things is not the same as flipping around a well organized book (And yes, GW often falls short of that standard)
