Jupiter is here
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elegooofficial/elegoo-jupiter-128-6k-mono-msla-3d-printer
It’s a beast! Seems really well priced, but I do not have the space, or the resin budget, for something like that

Looks like the only reason to get this over the Phrozen Mega 8K is that its half the price. Weird that Phrozen jumped straight to 8K while Elegoo and Anycubic seem to be pushing other directions

Interestingly, the Z-axis can be converted from 300mm. to 500mm. with after market kits. Things are getting big.
The auto fill resin system looks clever, but I'd be petrified of it leaking with an upside down bottle like that, but I'm thinking that for these build volumes, it starts to become a necessity. Can you use a full bottle up in the single print? Scary.
I think, perversely, I'm appreciating my pathetic little Photon Mono's size. I'm already accumulating piles of unpainted resin models as it is, sometimes, limitations can be good.

Yeah, bigger printers kid of terrify me for many reasons.
But the main one is... I'd use it.

I can see these larger ones being perfect for cosplayers. For me it would just never be fully utilised for fear of overrunning my house with nonsense

My Saturn is plenty big enough for what I do. A massive improvemnet over the Mars I had for years, so not really tempted by the Jupiter.

Same, though I did try to get one of the "early-bird" lowest cost Jupiters on the KS but even though I was on the second the KS opened up I couldn't get my pledge to complete and lost out....

I would have been tempted by Super Early Bird but that was sold out by the time I noticed this morning. I found it on Kickstarter front page before seeing this thread.
Thing is shipping is over $200 USD to UK, and Elegoo are very unlikely to drop VAT for it to be handled on import, so double VAT as customs will stop this.
When all is said and done the 40% off is illusory and the beast is oversized. Yes it is bigger print volume but the print bed has a funnel around it, it is not that much bigger than the Saturn, though the z axis is much higher; and unless you need it for cosmetic or industrial use, it would be better to get a smaller printer though.
Fume extractors are also an issue, nice add on and you have the option to buy five extra ones in one of the buys. Extractors not filters that is. This implies the filters are not independently replaceable. I suppose you could crack one open as use scissors and gauze, but it appears to be like the ink cartridge scam for most paper printers. Something that is intentionally difficult to bypass.
Then there is the issue of the resin dispenser and how it fits specific resin bottles and is not a resin hopper to fill. That says a lot too. I checked the comments and Elegoo made semi committal comments about the caps being replaceable, but if you are going to hold a bottle upside down you want the cap to fit properly. So you get a tie in with Elegoos own resin, though I see no reason you cant just use the same Elegoo container as a decanter for third party resin, maybe wash it out first.
So all in all, tempted but no.

The five hundred units went that quickly.
I can believe that there would be studios (and scalpers) who would be ready at the gate, so a hobbyist has little chance. I wonder if they were linked to multi-pledge bots, would not suprise me.

The same thing will happen to the J as happened to the Saturn for stock - out for months and only scalpers were selling it for almost double the price. I just think the limited audience that really needs this size will jump on it and it will go like gangbusters at first, but will drop away and the Saturn should settle in for their bigger seller, IMHO. The Saturn just makes more sense cost and size-wise for the majority of hobbyists.
When you have to dump in an entire bottle just to fire the J up, that will get costly and tiresome.

In the last 24 hours two more manufacturers have released printer Kickstarters.
Cheaper, and with free shipping.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/anycubic-official/photon-ultra
Very cheap, and low cost shipping mediocre quality 2k mono printer, super early bird still active (14/9).
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/192159264/weistek-the-most-affordable-2k-monochrome-sla-3d-printer
I had to check that Weistek was not a scam company, a lot of 3d printer start ups are, as it happens they have existing product, so I thought it worth the punt.

I really like the Photon Ultra with the DLP tech, but it is a super small build area. In the next few years when DLP gets cheaper and a little bigger build area, I will jump in.
I do not really have a problem with established companies using KS as a selling platform, instead of the capital investment platform it is designed for. Good to see these types of units presented to the public at a bargain.
