Evening everyone!

Pretty much what the title says - I've put all my social media accounts into a deep cryosleep, and come back to the forums, as a way of controlling what I want to see and not being exposed to the corporate overlords.

I've been hobbying on and off since 1995, since 4e Warhammer Fantasy / 2e 40k. The 2nd part of that will explain why I have always had a thing for Blood Angels.

After recently being officially diagnosed with ADHD, I have swung in and out of painting like a metronome and will hopefully be able to finish the box of Daughters of Khaine & Slaanesh from the Shadows & Pain boxset that I bought for myself sometime last year.

Anyway, looking forward to nerding out with you in the future!

Welcome Back. I did pretty much the same thing with Social Media as well.

I just quit social media too! My wife started getting ads that are targeting her eating disorder to try to sell her diet pills and it has caused a relapse... I decided that I did not want Facebook to profit another dime off me.

I deleted my FB acct at the beginning of the pandemic. Made life a lot better. Eventually I went back and made a stealth account that has no friends just so I can join some of the miniature focused groups, but it is nice to have absolutely no contact with friends/family via social media.

Thank you! A less well known symptom of ADHD is hyperfocus, so 20mins of painting turns into 3hrs, in a literal blink of an eye. But, I'm going to try using some discipline and alarms to help me out.

I did consider that, but I thought that the online toxins would seep back. And this way with the forums I can see things in proper chronological order, not what FB thinks I should see things.

good for you and welcome.. I did the same about 18 months ago. I HATE social media, I've never been on twitter or instagram mind but facebook was more than enough for me.

I've noticed social media replacing forums a lot over the last decade and have never been a fan of it, something like a project log is impossible on facebook.

Praise the dark gods social media hasn’t yet discovered a way to function like a forum, with search tools to find information and questions for niches like this hobby. Woe be to forums when they do though...

They've tried to... but there's just something about separating out topics on a message board style that just can't be replicated through any of the platforms, long may it continue.

You did a great job on those Marines (and this is coming from someone who loathes Primaris)

New here as well and can't stand social media. The people I do talk to might as well send messages through the regular mail. Peope who argued with me think they won because I just left and didn't respond. Can't talk to a person who doesn't listen.

ADHD as well but it's untreatable (doctor has no idea why).
