Continuing working through the 1990s stuff I found in my parents’ attic here’s an Advanced Heroquest henchman. Quite pleased with it, especially the freestyle dragon design on the shield. It’s the first time I’ve painted something freestyle like that

Is the spear a replacement? It seems more stylized than we'd see in that era.

Thanks. No the spear is original. I don’t have the complete set of miniatures but I’ve got a few of these henchmen and they’re all completely identical but with different weapons in the hand. The shield is a replacement. I didn’t have the originals.

I remember those guys. Nice job. I'm jealous that you found a stash of old school stuff to paint! simple models, for me, are easier and heence more fun; and like you shield design, they reward a bit of creativeness.

Lovely painting, and that freehand shield is wonderfully done, and suits the model perfectly!
