I like the Necromunda squat aesthetic in general, but the weird twin weapons are off-putting enough to prevent me wanting in invest. The laser weapon is a lot better than the bullet designs though. Obviously could convert on different weapons, but still a pain.

Also a shame they didn't keep the three handles on the mining laser, and have a bionic supporting arm on the model. That is how the GSC mining lasers are designed to be used and it would be cool to see an "original" version.

Rats, I thought this one would be plastic. Not a bad model. The leg stance seem unnaturally wide but one is bionic so i guess it’s ok

This doesn't excuse the decision, but the maybe the leg is for stabilising. Might look better in person when you can see it at more angles?

My whole vibe on the model is that they sold a ton of the last couple of squats and threw this one together quickly. Looks like a pretty slapdash effort

100% this. Heck, I don't even know what some weapons for the squats are even supposed to look like, since they aren't on the sprue, or on any Necromunda artwork I have seen so far.

But this champion, minus the white armor I hate/hate/hate is pretty darn nifty.

I am very surprised by this opinion. I think this guy looks miles better than the last two squats, which seem overly 'characterful' to the point of absurdity (or immobility). Barring his immense weapon, he looks almost practically equipped, rather than dressed up in exaggerated 'squat culture'.

I do miss a little robot pet, though.

Or as the late great Terry Pratchett put it, 'Klang' (instead of Bling).

I like the Necro squats so much more than the Legion of Voltire Squats.

I think the double barrel weapon is a weird but cool motif for them.

I like that they look like Squats, but modernised.

They make zero sense at all, and are another symptom of GW's gross misunderstanding of how weapons function*, but they do look cool.

Yeah, me too.

I assume that they will be at least slightly bigger than the old FW version, if it's the same size it will look a bit out of scale, IMO.

I doubt that whoever sculpted the squat was even aware that there was any background already attached to mining lasers.

There are plenty of variants of other weapons. A bunch of different autocannons were just posted above.

Also this is a squat-developed device; clearly, swapping a handle for an extra barrel/projector makes it lighter or easier to handle somehow
Or they’re playing into the dwarf archetype of being able to carry more without strain.

That isn't what I was talking about.

The existing mining laser is designed to be used with three arms (which is why the GSC have to give them to 3-armed operatives to use)- it is supposed to a have a third arm from a complimentary servo rig. Obviously the squat mining laser is different, but it would have been a nice nod to the older lore for this model to be wearing a servo rig that gripped a third handle.

Well. I think the lore could do with fewer cringey forced rationalizations like

"The 3-armed xenos use these imperial guns that the Imperium just so happened to design for 3-armed use"

anyway.

I thought the reasoning of reducing (human) rebellions was pretty sound though- mine overseers could control access to the servo rigs and reduce the risk of heavily-armed rebellions by making the easily-repurposed mining gear harder to use without authorisation. If you store the two parts in different areas, both need to be raided during a rebellion.

Which I find intriguing in and of itself; why not show the sprue? I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing...

I’ve found a lot of the stuff on the new and impoverished site is missing the sprite pictures. Not sure if it incompetence or negligence. I find the new site practically useless as in I’d rather buy from third parties because the user experience is so bad that it makes the old site look user friendly.

I'm looking at the epub preview of the Apocrypha Necromunda, and it seems pretty darn underwhelming.
Underhive Nemeses
Living Settings
Ressurection Packages
Arbitrator & Gang Raid Scenarios
Uprising Campaign
Outlaw Brutes
Delaque crew & vehicle gang tactics.

No collected Dramatis Personae from the older books, not even any Sump Sea or Underhive Mutants rules.

Yeah, that's an autocannon, not a heavy stubber.

Autocannons generally have a more squared end with cross ways flash suppressor. Heavy stubbers have either a flat cylinder barrel with shroud, or the flared muzzle seen here, which is practically identical to the Krieg heavy stubber - https://www.warhammer.com/en-AU/shop/Death-Korps-of-Krieg-Heavy-Stubber-Team-2

Well, that's stupid. The lack of the Dramatis Personae in particular is baffling, especially given the book's cover. Selling models without in-print rules is a bit off-brand?

Don't Forge World Warhammer still sell the hired guns with a little slip of paper holding their stat card profile?
