So, sitting around, procrastinating doing something usefull, my mind has wandered to what/how much I've been playing here in 9e....

July of 2020 - Sept.14, 2022

Different armies I've played & #of games with each:
•Space Wolves x3
SoB x3
•Necrons x120+*
•Tyranids x3 - looong before the 9e Codex
•Drukhari x15
•Gretchin (no, not orks, Grots) x31
•Knights (Imperial) x1
•Imperial Guard + Reaver Titan x1
•Demons (pure Khorne) x3

So 179+ games, 9 different armies

Completely NEW armies I've built since 9th launched:
•Drukhari
•Knights (Imperial)
•Grots
•coming real soon: LoV!

The army I've got the most intact data for?
•Grots
31 games
19 Wins
11 losses
1 game = na -
Spoiler:
it was a 16 person/40some thousand point Apoc game where there really wasn't any overall victory/loss that most players could contribute towards. Just killing stuff & keeping a personal tally....

# of unique opponents = 26
# of unique armies my grots have faced = 24
Spoiler:
there were 2 forces that were virtually identical to others I'd fought. So 26 players/24 armies.

# of months my grots have been active: 7 (March 16th - September 12)

*
Spoiler:
The Necrons are a bit of an estimate.
Between summer 2020-summer 2021 with things shut down because of the pandemic a small group of us played a helluva lot of games at home. 3-5 per week.
And then when the local shops opened back up I played in 3 Crusades at the same time.... + pick up games. So more weeks of between 4-6 games. And I've kept playing them regularly since....
I did not keep records. But I'm sure I've played my Necrons at least 4x as much as my grots.
Sorry. Next pandemic I will try & keep better notes.

How about you?

Loyal Necron Lychguard

80ish 2k Necron games, 55% win rate. 30ish 500 pt intro games half Necrons, half Ultramarines, 90ish% WR. 100ish unique opponents, played against every faction more or less.

Deathwing Terminator with Assault Cannon

57 games of 9th so far. 17 with Sisters of Battle, 19 with Craftworlds Eldar, 11 with Custodes, 8 with Primaris Marines, 1 with Guard.

I haven't gotten my Knights on the table this edition yet.

Almost all my games are Crusade games, mostly with the same half dozen or so opponents.

Starting GSC for a new Crusade starting in January (that will replace the one I'm playing Eldar in).

Each week since 9th ed started I have been doing the same thing every week. 2 w40k games on Saturday, and 1 game of AoS or 1 game of w40k on Sunday.

w40k is GK. AoS is Lumineth Lords. Win rate with GK is maybe 15%, maybe 10%. With LL it is around 50%, but it would be lower if I played SoB or the sea elfs. AoS is very fun, w40k not so much. But there are a lot more w40k players then AoS ones. So I play more w40k.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Can you share your grot list? Curious what you did to find so much success with it.

I am extremely lucky to be able to live near a 24/7 game store, i also can play at home, and on TTS. So I honestly have no idea even how many games I have played, but its 2-3 a week normally (up until the last 2 months when i had to be a caregiver). With that said, about 1/4 of the games are also AoS games.

When you play as much as me you dont really care about lists, game points, wins, etc.. anymore, just to have fun with people and do different things. I take a new list every week, and a lot of times they are crazy off meta lol. Its great for me and my opponents at times bc its always fun and fresh (everyone knows they can ask me to play anything and I will if they wanted a meta game).

Well I'll post my inventory. And some thoughts/expla
You see, I don't have "a list" as I play games ranging from 500pts up to 3k. And sometimes I just rotate something in/out on a whim.
I also play ALOT of Crusade (probably 95% of my 9e games)

My grots:
Usually run as Evil Sunz - doesn't do anything for most of my force, but comes in handy for my Warboss.

●Warboss in MegaArmor
Spoiler:
•Relic is always the Red Armor - helps him keep pace with the grot tanks. Also makes enemies fight last when he heroically intervenes.
WL traits - varies
This model is in my army for the simple reason that in Crusade I CANNOT lead the force with either of my grot heros as they are both named characters.
He's also cheaper than the sqigosaur boss & more effective than any other cheaper choice.

●The Red Gobbo on Gobbler
●Makari
●60 grots
Spoiler:
always run as 10 man units
5 of these squads have dedicated trucks
The foot squad is always put in reserve/on a telyporta pad. Sometimes they are assigned to garrison a fortification.
Up to 3 of these squads will be Horrible Gitz - depends upon how many detachments I can run

●5 trucks
All have grabbing claws. 1 always has the Fortress upgrade. Another often has Squig Tyres.
Each unique & dedicated to a specific grot squad
●3 Runt Herders
Spoiler:
*I don't want these in my list at all. They only appear in the event that I'm in a Nephlim game (wich is not often). Their sole reason to exist is to deploy in the trucks so they don't auto-destruct should it be more beneficial for the grots to be deployed on the ground.

●24 Grot tanks (3 full squadrons worth)
Spoiler:
3/4 tanks have either KMb or Rokkits,
1/4 has either a Skorcha or Big Shoota - these guys have two jobs: be the first to take damage/die, preserving the AT gunz. Provide some fire if/when a squad finds itself engaged in CC & unable to disengage.
In Crusade where I'm not subject to the rule of 3 I run these tanks as 6 units of 4. Otherwise units of 4+

●3 Grot Mega-Tanks
I've built enough turrets to be able to do any combo of weapons fir each tank. My favorite combos are all rokkits (looks cool + effective), all KMB & all Skorcha.
If I do a Skorcha tank I give it a shokka Hull & put it on a tellyport pad.
●2 Grot Bomb Launchas.
Great 1st strike punch & then they sieze objectives%Ramming Speed things as needed.
●max # of Mek Gunz.
I built all of mine as bubble chuckers as I like the random.
●3 Killa Kanz - stock build straight from the box.
●5 lobbas
●5 Zap Guns
●5 Kannon
●1 Wazbomb fully kitted out & with the FF
Spoiler:
The Wazbomb is in the list because in Crusade I can't access some options without Mek/Big Mek.
Since I needed a mek, I figured I might as well have the most effective one....

How my grots win:
•The truck/foot grots take the objectives.
•Everything else shoots the piss out of the opponent.
And unlike ORK armies my grots back this up with BS4, high Ap, high Str, considerable RoF, and quite a volume of said fire.
•If something gets caught in CC (& survives)? They will fallback & let other units blast the target off the board.
•If I can help it, truck grots do not dismount- despite some having ObSec. (The truck is tougher than they are). If they do dismount? Then they will often do so with the truck between them & enemies (the truck blocks Los usually & is tougher than they are... )
•I do not worry about giving up vp to bring it down. It'll happen, I just have to out kill/out score the foe in the meantime.
