I sharpen the pegs a little, they just apply force until it goes in.

Yes, absolutely. But not with every kit - something I can't explain. It's really important to get the baseplate in position properly, or it pushes the rest of the model out of alignment and you get gaps around the rear door etc. With the last 2 Rhinos I built, I shaved the edges of the baseplate down so they were thinner, and removed the locating tabs. I also assembled the whole hull in one go, to make sure everything is aligned. It's way more trouble than it should be.

I have still no clue how to recreate my scale painting in red, but i have turned 50 Iron warriors into 50 Alpha legionaires, meaning i put on the blue on 30 Veterans and 20 Seekers.

Depends on the paint. My whole AL army including everything as of now did cost me only 3/4 of technical contrast medium and akhelian. Black hasn't even been scratched close to finish and the same is true for ironbreaker i use to undercoat my infantry.

I rekon in total for what Mad doc did show off, at most 3 pots of paint for the core colour and then about 1 for detail.

Anyways: 50 former iron warriors into 50 Alpha legionaires.

Only thing left to do is the headwear, brass and touching up the metal.

Gonna get two cans of Mech STD Grey, and two Grim Black.

Given this is likely a weeks long project, I can always get more as required. And I’m hopeful Chaos Cards have had a hobby restock!

Went with Firestorm games, as it was the first place to have the stock I needed.

3 pots of Grim Black speed paint, 2 cans of MSG.

Paid for 24 hour shipping, so they should arrive by Wednesday.

I’ll need to have a think about how I paint my tanks though, as I’m still largely unconvinced by Speed/Contrast over large, flat areas.

No, don’t do the vehicles that way. I think a black undercoat and a couple of thin, evenly applied coats of the base colour is the way to go - unless it’s red or yellow.

Hardly finished as of yet. Crest will become Red and Black. They also get scales, and hydra symbols on black pads and a runefang steel trim and scratches.

Something like this, sans the decorations as of yet.
Currently all 30 Veterans look like that squad.

My WiP Space Wolf Recon squad. I went with shotguns because they seemed right for SW, and I really like the fact that they're so blocky and oversized. But it was very difficult adapting them to the Mk VI arms, which is why the poses are rather similar. One model is still waiting for a suitable head, and I accidentally left the 8th model out of the photo.

And I finally finished my Speaker of the Dead. An incredibly fiddly conversion. There is an earlier version of him further up in this thread - I decided he needed more stuff, including a more characterful head and a narthecium. He will lead a unit of Deathsworn (which will be the last models I do for this army).

Being a glutton for punishment, I'm currently adding 4 Russes, 4 field guns, a Gorgon and about 40 more infantry to my Militia for an event in August.

That doesn't include the further 500pts of my list I still need to decide on and honestly just to make it easy, I'm thinking of just adding a Knight.

Why not more riflemen? Or artillery? or when plastic malcadors show up finally a bunch of them?

I do hope that militia will get increased access to malcadors and dracosans since the malcador got mothballed at the Start of HH.

Would also increase sales of them for gw.

I fear Militia won't get any attention whatsoever until maybe it gets into a printed book in 5 years time.

?!? We allready got more musters in the last pdf.

All they'd need to do is Change the industrial one or the one that marks your militia as former solar regiments.

Because 150 infantry is enough as it is. Plus artillery is generally awful and the field guns are about the only good ones.
I might get one more Malcador but honestly, I've got so much as it is it'd never get used. I've got two and a Valdor already, with the latter seeing two games total and never performing well.

Yesterday, I built 5 Heresy Assault Marines.

It’s a pretty nice kit to work with. The weapons/shields attach at the wrists, so whilst the bodies are set pose, you do get some posabillity without having to reach for Mr Saw.

Ah so i wasn't going insane. Though it's the same issue as with the access to malcadors and leman russes for milita. (too liitle Malcador, for militia, too much Leman russ for militia.)

Anyways, shaded the seekers, today will be the final day of touching up aswell for my veterans before i will go play with sand to base the half company worth of marines.

Decided I should make a concerted effort to 'finish' my old resin/FW Solar Auxilia stuff before buying any of the new plastics:
(no paint on anything yet - still need to decide on a colour scheme!)

First up, a Leman Russ incinerator, with added dozer blade and volkite sponsons to match the main gun:






Next a Sentinel with a volkite main gun, roof mounted missile launcher and alt/transverse powerplant:





And last, but definitely not least, my baneblade variant, with volkite main gun and sponsons aka 'the iron wolf'



if anyone has any tips for removing superglue frosting from around the brass etch, then please share them!

These look very ‘Heresy’. I particularly like the Volkite Shadowsword. I have a deep and abiding dislike of etched brass, so I don’t use it, but liquid cement removes superglue frosting it from plastic. You won’t want to get it on the brass, however.

My first converted Deathsworn. He still needs a few details (and is currently mostly held together with blu-tac), but this is basically what the unit will look like. The new Mk III kit does most of the work, to be honest…
