Currently working on building 2 heavy sentinel's for Solar Auxilia. Have them built in sub assemblies, legs, main body and weapons that I'll maybe magnetize. I haven't assembled a 40K vehicle in like 10 years.
For paint scheme, I think I'm just gonna keep it simple and go with the green/gray/silver that's on the current box art but haven't started painting. Gotta do more research and make sure they aren't a traitor faction. If they are team Horus, I'll maybe switch to the light blue and tan that the original resin Auxilia came in.
As an aside, for anyone with the knowledge:
How do the Solar Auxilia Ogryn's compare size-wise to the current 40K Ogryn plastic kit? I'm doing my best to go all plastic, and as the SA Ogryns only come in resin (so far) and I might use the 40K Ogryns as proxy somehow. Maybe even the Necromunda Ogryns.

They are larger. Those are specially genetically modified even larger ogryns. Normal ogryns at most can represent the militia ogryns.

I have a strong feeling that they Charonite Ogryns will be coming out in plastic very soon. The new Liber books sent most of the older resin kits to legends. However, Ogryns stuck around and are even on the cover.

Managed to get the rest of the MkII marines from the box set all polished off, done as a 20-man Tactical Squad and a 10-man Tactical Support Squad armed with Meltaguns...
I was hoping to have the Saturnine stuff all built this week and painted over the weekend but oh... oh, these are the most painful models to put together that I have seen for a long, long time. It is not just the number of parts involved (the only thing I can compare them to is perhaps the Warmaster from Titanicus), but also the fact that they do not really 'click' together like most modern GW models.
Expect a long and painful whinging post when I get them up here!

Thinking of whipping up a simple Heresy-themed board game, and the easiest I can think off is an Army-of-One scenario for Blackstone Fortress.

I’ve had to apply the brakes for now. Four weeks from now, all my gubbins, geegaws, bits, pieces, wotnot and portable property will be boxed up, ready to move into my forever home the day after.
Sure, four weeks is a long time. But I don’t currently trust myself to open a kit and get it all built. And if I don’t do that? I risk Rogue Sprue Syndrome.

And now I’ve assembled the first of two Saturnine Dreadnoughts. With the alternate weapons on pre-order this coming weekend, I decided to magnetise.
Nipple Guns require 3mm x 1mm. Main guns 5mm x 1mm. Thanks to Goonhammer for that accurate information.
Really nice kit to work with, and nothing overly fiddly. I’d say the fiddliest bit is in the very first step. When gluing the thighs, there’s a tiny insert piece. Not too tricky, but you’d definitely want to take your time as they’re pretty dinky, and so liable to be lost if dropped or sent pinging off into the aether.
It should also be possible to leave the really big shoulder pads off for painting. But as you can see, I didn’t care/couldn’t be bothered. Will I get this painted by the end of the week? It’s possible.

Thanks for that. Just ordered some 5mm magnets.
I still need to work on how to make Army Lists in 3.0. However, I have Lone Star Open 40k tournament next weekend and I don't want to mix rule sets in my head right now. That said, my 10 man Autocannon squad with Augury Scanner and NuncioVox and went from 245 points to 320 points. Good lord...

Upside is they can now be pretty mobile, gaining an extra shot for Stationary. With D2, they’re pretty nasty I think.

Yup, Heavy (FP), basic FP2.
Let’s just say despite the points increase, I’m very happy to have a squad of 10 built and painted.
No Tactical Status though, but a bloody handy Jack Of All Trades.

Got 1 Heavy Sentinel painted up fully, just gotta base it, with my second one mostly done. Keep going back to my Legate Marshall, touching him up and experimenting to find a Bormanite Devil paint combo that I can efficiently mass produce and be satisfied with.

It took... about 3 hours total for all 10? Something like that, probably a bit less as some of that time was waiting for the oil to dry a bit.

I finally finished the Saturnine models!
There was a fair degree of pain and frustration involved here...
I did put some notes together on their painting but, to be fair, it did turn into a bit of a whinge-fest on the torture involved in building these blasted things..
https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/2025/08/04/saturnine-death-guard-done-at-last/
In happier news, I also did a Vindicator alongside to see if I could prove that the Slapchop approach could work on vehicles. The tl;dr on this... yes (sort of)!
Think the bug might be biting on these Death Guard. Have just ordered a COmmand Squad and another MkII Tactical...

Over the weekend, I got my 2nd Heavy Sentinel painted up, along with 2 Hermes Light Sentinels and 2 Veletaris Sentinels mostly painted up. Just gotta do some metal trim, the pilots and then the base on all 4.
Pretty confident in my recipe for the uniforms and vehicle, and I'm either going to batch paint some Lasrifle Sections, or keep going with vehicles.
I did order(EBAY) some banners for my HQ units, as the vexilla's get kind of repetitive.
I'll have to actually start looking at the army roster and see what my options are, but for my Legate Marshall's unit I'm gonna go heavy with conversions to best show that his Lifewards are equipped as he see's fit. Looking forward to doing that, just to break up the monotony!
