And TOW they are not and GW already dropped them by not updating them with the last Errata

That HH is doing things differently doesn't matter for TOW

GW's most recent decision is always their most important one for forecasting the future.

Guys, fact is we don't quite know what they will do with the legacy armies. Will we see them soon? I think not, i think Kislev will be coming out first.

But apart from speculation about things we don't know about, let's discuss the new Settra acrane journal and the apparently number of arcane journals like it to come. I'm so excited for Waagh! Spine-Cracker!

and that would be that legacy armies for TOW are not part of the game and therefore don't get an update to the latest rules
How they handle one game doesn't translate to another, AoS is handled differently to 40k, as is HH, Necromunda or Blood Bowl and Kill Team.

Otherwise you must conclude that factions are switching between main and legacy every season because this is what BB and KT do with oldest dropping out for new ones.
So Bretonnia and Khemri would become illegal for events while Cathay and Chaos Dwarfs join

But this isn't what is happening because there is no one model for all GW games.
And just because the HH rules say so doesn't make it work in TOW.

It definitely feels like Chaos Dwarves should have been an old world release, but maybe its the only way the project got approval, for the sales to show up under the AoS sales category, even if half of them end up on square bases.

If I were an AoS player, my main concern going in would be that the army eventually gets "Old World Squatted" like Beasts of Chaos did.

It's a good way to get money from both playerbases, get people to buy it as an AoS army, then once sales falter in a decade or so, shove it in TOW to get a second round of profit out of it.

This is... not a great comparison. Beastmen got almost zero support during the near-decade of AoS, and GW decided to remove them from one game to put them in another.

The idea that at some point they're going to take all these brand-new Chaos Dwarf models and shunt them to Old World is borderline laughable.

Yet I'd still rate the likelihood of that as higher than the Dark Elves being returned to TOW.

Part of me wonders if we'll be here on the 20th birthday of AoS with the Dark elves still having done nothing but still on sale!

LMAO.

The real risk is the opposite occuring - TOW 2nd edition releases and GW doesnt update the Legacy factions leaving TOW legacy army fans with piles of unusable plastic, in the hopes that they then round base them and accept their lot as age of sigmar players.

Those of us willing to do that already did so in the time between the death of WFB and the start of TOW.

This sort of thing is why my interest in the Hhhhhobby is rapidly waning. I'm seriously considering selling off most of my stuff since it's effectively trash now.

We just saw GW panic-react (yes-yes) to the wave of negativity that deprecating options in HH 3.0 produced, so I think it's likely that it influences their behaviour going forward. Players will get doubly mad over armies being abandoned (versus units or models), but there are also probably more HH players than TOW players to kick up a stink (although probably not that many more).

Most importantly, we have credible reports that the recent Horus Hatesy impacted sales for the Saturnine launch box. People can choose to dissemble and say that there were other reasons for the soft sales, like the unit makeup in the box or whatever, but I think that's copium. Nobody walked away from their preorder because they concluded that the models were sidegrades of things they already had, or inefficient building blocks for starting an army from scratch.

So then the question becomes, do you think TOW 2.0 is going to have a *real* launch product, or be another mish-mash of recyclables? To me it seems likely that it will be a real box, probably containing brand new plastics and probably even at least one brand new faction. Is GW going to risk poisoning their launch environment again by openly neglecting the Legacy factions? I doubt it.

You do know this is the same company that poisoned the launch of AoS by blowing up WFB, right?

Yeah, it worked out for them in that they attracted a bunch of new players. But it made their contempt for their existing fanbase CRYSTAL clear.
