Okay, so we've had some time to play and test things out, read our book and all.

Do you feel you've found anything special or any unintended interactions between rules.

For me it's the Paragon of Excellence warlord trait for the purple third. If a unit passes a morale check then it can choose to get an extra point of WS till next turn but a unit can only do so once per game. For a while I thought it was iffy at best. If your opponent is worried about the extra ws then they'd just not shoot your unit, or a unit that could get into combat after triggering it.

Then I realized to use the hold your ground reaction you have to pass a morale check. It really feels like it can turn a combat. Your opponent counts as disordered and you get extra WS to help swing the fight in your favor.

Do remember, with the new FAQ, if you fail that check you run. If you are still caught you don't get to rally.

I mean, having a HQ in the unit to help with ld does make it more reliable. And if you expect to lose the unit in the combat it seems worth while trying to swing it in your favour at the risk of the unit falling back and getting swept.

That's alpha legion plus shroud bombs correct? It does also put them out of range of a lot of short range weapons to. You'll almost never be hit by pistols or rapidfire.

find it "fun" that Thousand sons characters can't take force weapons but squad sergeants can

Yep, or indeed be in RF for things like banestrikes f.e. or meltas or many a thing.
Fun fact, you can put a consul saboteur in a lot of squads, fun fact, shroud bombs only need to be present on one model, yes you can hide a full 11 man squad. Yes , you can create a 10 man headhunter / seeker squad with apothecary and shroud bombs, bonus point if you use seekers and infiltrate them with a land raider proteus, a whole lot of points, for the potential to be a massive annoyance.

by the by, infiltrating a proteus with seekers is a general shenanigan all legions can do.

I think its neat that for 15pts per unit I can ignore shroud saves and most of what the Raven Guard does as a result.

The length of my hair, I can go Hagrid or Dumbledore. I chose Hagrid and I’ll stick with it

What part of the NL stuff / rules give them this ability?

Night Lords can buy Night Vision, night vision lets them ignore the effects of Night Fighting and Shrouded Saves.

And Shroud Bombs as well. Shroud Bombs and the Evade reaction are things that the 8th Legion get to use......but their opponents don't.
