A simple question that I am trying to find a way to answer that doesn't involve actually counting them. Does anyone have a good way to total them all up?

It would included all the codex entries, campaign books, forgeworld, legends, online only rules release etc.....

If you have an answer of how to go about it please let me know, I want to include the question in a christmas quiz :-)

Sisters of battle, custodian, admech, guard, 213 datasheets without legends/index sheets combined...So...yeah many Over 1000 sounds like could be easily right.

3? That's a lot! How is anyone supposed to keep track of that?

More seriously though, it really depends on how you count. Some units are given a new name with another weapons option while others are the same unit still (and it can change between editions) and then there's Forgeworld, legends, and all that.

I think every Codex release article said how many datasheets were in there (unfortunately the product descriptions don't).
So this might be a start.

Doesn't matter.
Legends sheets exist, are legit 9e rules, & exist for both GW & FW issued units/variants.
Many even contain options for units that aren't part of current kits.

I want a legit 40k model that's been part of my armies since it was 1st released.

YOU want something that was only being talked about being ported into 40k.
