Yeah I figure this could be a good book though for GW to collate and clean up the rules scatter before launching more campaign books.

I doubt this will be the End for LI, im sure there will be more in the future - see Necromunda or Blood Bowl, there was no conclusion after Compendiums.

It doesn't feel like they're stopping anything to me, and yes it feels like they're doing the same they do with Necromunda.

So, in conclusion, it feels like I should never buy the first sets of books they release.

You should be grateful they allow you to pay them to be a beta tester!

I'm happy to have them...

I doubt the Compendium will have all their Fluff and Background Content.

The AT Compendium was missing a lot of good art and fluff.

I have enough GW fluff to outlive me already, I don't really need any more, particularly not the same retreaded once again.

For the time being I can see the rule book being decoupled from it's outdated unit profiles and updated with the well-received errata. It would also suggest a new boxed game as well, which would probably have some surprises of it's own.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Hopefully the compendium adjusts unit points costs to reign in the outliers and make titans and knights a bit cheaper. Will be interesting if they look at detachments and formations and perhaps cap formations in army sizes.

Would be nice if the Titan and Knight armys got another tweak towards viability.

The T&Ks could certainly do with a bit of tidying up. I would like to see support formations for the marines and solar, so that they can be mixed into Mechanicum and T&K armies. That would be something indeed.

Knights need drastic points cuts for sure. Titans could use some adjustments, but i think additional formations or just more access to warlord titams within their formations would be helpful.

And yes, additional support formations would be great, id love an official imperialis auxilia support formation to include SA in astartes forces.

I dunno, I feel Titans need to be a bit more imposing somewhat. After you've felled a few, they're just so, I dunno, average I suppose? I want to feel like they're a bit more of a threat than they are. Warmaster being the exception.

The problem is if you make titans too powerful what can happen is everyone only takes titans because they just win as they become more points efficient than everything else.

Or they become so expensive points wise you can't actually take more than one in any game.

Both of which are not ideal. You want them basically in the middle - powerful but not broken and cheap enough that you can field a few in the average game.

This in theory improves over time. AS the game gets older the average collection size goes up so the game size that is considered standard goes up. You see the same thing in 40K - armies today are WAY bigger than they were for 2nd or 3rd edition in standard games.
As a result things like BIG greater demons and baneblades are still powerful and deadly, but are now potentially common in games rather than super-rare exotics for super high point games only.

Wouldn't be surprised, if we get a reworked an errated Rulebook without AOPs and Unit Entries soon after that Compendium.

If so, we can say for sure it's not the conclution of LI releases.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I would be very, very surprised if the compilation book was the final release. I have read that sales have not been great (we never really have any way of verifying this) but even if that were the case minis & rules are developed years in advance and would still be on their way; daemons, Primarchs, other armour marks and campaign books (you can't leave a game with just a couple of Legions with special formations) and most importantly there *must* be a Fellblade! And I would put my mortgage on there being a model already sat waiting for a new campaign book to be released.

My thoughts are that this book is to consolidate the game while HH3.0 is probably going to have centre stage for the next 3-6 months and that is absorbing resources and sale windows - then there will be a new campaign/expansion book.

This is just an equilibrium that playtesting should give you for every unit, every other edition of Epic has more or less managed it. Anything other than the Warmaster in Legions (which is perhaps too far the other way, to the point that some events have banned it) is game-wise almost a waste of time, other than them inadvertently being useful for new players who are trying to get up to a points total and might have one in their collection from AT!

Sure they can. They already did that with the Aeronautica Reboot, not releasing Chaos or non-FW flyers (outside of the Phoenix/CH) and then consigning Necrons to a resin FW release, before nuking the whole thing and repurposing the Imperial planes for LI.
I'd say there's a 0 percent chance they hadn't at least started working on Chaos planes given that they were in the original AI.

If GW really feels like it's floundering they can absolutely take it out back if they want to.

Yeah I think GW will absolutely make another attempt to cross-sell LI to HH players for campaign battles.

A consolidated book is the first step while they also release the full scale Fellblade, then towards the end of the year we'll see them highlight the possibilities of epic scale games with mulitple super-heavies including some shiny new stuff.

You want to buff titans and knights and nerf infantry a little so the combined arms nature of the game shines through. If someone managed to buy, assemble and paint 100 stands of Support Legionnaires they could blast most stuff off the table, which then skews the meta towards stuff thats a good counter. Which means less combined arms.

Stricter formation caps and points tweaks would help a lot there.

You want detachments of support marines in buildings, vulnerable to the Serperos with exo-planar bombards and irradiation engines which are in turn vulnerable to the charge of a Cerastus Knight Lancer.

Don't think formation caps are that warranted, detachment caps however could be good.
