Putting sponsons on a leman russ is not, IMO enough of a difference to make it worth having as a whole separate faction.

Functionally they have the same design slots and language. To the point where almost the entire range is precurser to 40K. Again lore wise they are one thing; but functional models on the tabletop they are very much a mirror copy of the Guard range.

I don't see why Cavalry is suddenly the single outlier that is impossible for them when they've got almost every other single thing the guard features design wise; plus when the idea of mounted animals/machines in the setting is very common that its a feature in many armies.

Only because of how "zoomed out" LI is.

In the 28mm 30k game, they are noticeably stronger than Guardsmen, with improved lasrifles (S6 blast chargers were a hoot, RIP) and carapace armour.

Carapace armour is obviously irrelevant at epic scale.

Hoping we finally see Fast Attack choices getting the plastic treatment for HH
