I'll kick the discussion off with Tank Shock

The Desecrator Warpstrike Claw is S20, and almost guaranteed to be higher toughness than the charged unit, so that's 22D6 causing MWs on a 5+. Pretty much guarantees the full 6MW for 1CP before you even get to the fight phase

The latest nerfs to TOWERING and overwatch are going to hit hard. As well as the points increases

I can still squeeze my 13 war dogs into 2000pts, so I'm not necessarily bothered by the points hikes, but I did feel they were largely unnecessary.

So, post balance update, are Brigands and Battle Cannons still favourites?

I took a load of Brigands and a Despoiler dual-wielding battle cannons against Sisters earlier in the week...

Whilst the battle cannons were amazing at deleting Paragon Warsuits, I can't help feeling that one battle cannon and a thermal cannon would have been a better combo for more efficient dealing with tanks. I don't think the gatling cannon is necessary with all the Brigands.

What do other people recommend?

Do you think these new Knights will change the current all War Dogs meta?

Only if they're about 300 points each. But honestly? Screw the meta. I want my Big Frikkin' Drill!

House Dunbarrow likes to get up in your grill. We will absolutely take smashing someone with a drill over firing a harpoon at them. The huge flamer is just a nice bonus.

So. Arriving tomorrow I’ve 5 Chaos Knights, that big box of Ickle Knights, the Codex and the cards.

Planning on magnetising all the models for maximum flexibility in trying out different combos and that.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

So, you're going to want to go out and buy some bits from the armiger kits if your plan is to magnetize, specifically the helverin autocannons and the carapace meltaguns. The wardogs dont come with those parts.

Eh, YMMV. The meltaguns are nice for a Huntsman, but I've found Executioners to be rather lackluster in general.

Sticking with “proper” Chaos Knight kits for this army.

I dare say in time I may add regular knights and spiky them up. But for now? All Chaos All The Time.

Well yeah, thats why I said to buy the bits and not the entire kit. Very easy to chaos up the loyalist weapons a bit using the extra bits leftover on the wardog sprue.

Getting the first big lad built.

Going with a Ruinator, and I’m not going to magnetise it, as I simply can’t be arsed doing so with the arm pit missiles.

Rules wise I think I’d only ever want the one in an army, but it’ll be a staple. So the lack of magnetising shouldn’t really affect my options. Not when I’ve three more kits to build.

Also, its massive flamer shares parts with the Volkite. Definitely more magnetising work that I can be bothered with.

IMO its worth magnetizing the arms at the weapon joint for ease of storage and transport. Thats about the extent of the magnetization ive done on mine so far.

I’m still gonna magnetise the other three for maximum flexibility. And I’m definitely doing the same for the 7 War Dogs. Not only can brigands have a choice in gear, but being the lower costing units they’re poised to give me as varied a gaming collection as possible.

Built my first War Dog today. All weapons magnetised with relative ease. Lovely.

You Chaos chaps and all your War Dog arm options....

In my day, we only had two.... oh wait, we still only have 2...

In all honesty, build the second War Dog and try out the Combat Patrol for Chaos Knights.

It will help put you in a better mind set when playing Knights for the future.
