Nice work on both the paladin and dwarf. The yellow on the shield is particularly nice-- dirty without being dingy, if you take my meaning.

I've tried using the auto-adjust feature, and while it does make the brights brighter, I find the shadows to be so deep they mask any of the darker areas. I supposed I should actually learn how to adjust camera settings...

Thanks! Yeah I think this years resolution will be finally finding out how the pro mode on my phones camera actually works

150 posts and 6 pages, came a long way since I joined Dakkadakka Back to business with this next lad...

From the 1983(?) Warriors of Chaos V2 box: Ulvar Vileblood, or as I've been calling him Kale The Chaos Warrior! His sword is sculpted in a wavy pattern to provoke a sort of flamey pattern so I attempted that. First Time I've ever attempted something like that and definitely need to work on it,
It ended up looking like old kale so hence the name If anyone has any advice for a "reverse flame pattern" lemme know Went with a classic red color scheme and I think it suits the mini. That thing on his back is supposed to be a dagger but it really looks like a pistol lol, lemme know
what you think!

Heyo! Back again with a little something I've been in the mood to paint for awhile.

Grenadier 1980 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Mind Flayer from the Tomb of Spells box. I've had the urge to paint up this classic lad for the vintage lead collection for a bit, dunno how I'd fit him into Warhammer unless I use him as a counts as Chaos Wizard...
Tried my darndest to match the monster manual description of "mauve skin, purple to black tentacles, pale pupil eyes, and mauve to red hands". Lemme know how close I got to that description

Here he is up against the DnD party, really need to make a dungeon back drop someday Auto adjusted all the images here and it does bring out the tentacles some more. I'll continue to disclose if I auto adjust or not lol.

Thanks for stopping by!

Alright, been working on this all week and it is finally ready... Behold!

1983 Fantasy Tribes Dwarf Bolt Thrower and crew. It took awhile but I finally got my first piece of war gear Just need more dwarves and I'll have the semblance of a warband! I bought these lads a bit back and they were just absolutely caked in paint. Took a good week to finally strip em all.
From top to bottom we got the Drunk Commander, Dale One-Eye the Lookout (because his other eye I scratched away accidentally...), And Dave the Dwarf, holding a mysterious bottle. Tried something a bit new on each dwarf, mostly trying to actually do eyes for once The bottle took forever too.
A princely 60 points cost (72.5 in 2nd ed) for this lot. Gonna need alot more dwarfs if I ever hope to reach my goal of 500 points Finally here is the crew all together!

Join me next time where I take it easy and just paint the one mini instead of creaking my back and painting 4 in a semi row lol.
Thanks for stopping by!

Alright, peddling some more vintage lead to everyone's way Got something "Iconic" today lol

From 1984 Golgfag Rutdrogg's Regiment of Renown, one mercenary ogre Had both a fun and hard time painting this lad, especially those eyes If you know anything about this mini you'll have noticed the modified mace, I ended up drilling a 3mm hole and then just socketing the mace head
over the remnants of the pole shaft. I've got about 10 more of these if I ever wanna do the whole set but that'll probably be in the distant future. I'll probably take one of the broken ones and attempt to resculpt the eyes.

Our hobbit seems to have been targeted as a snack, let's hope he guiles his way out

Heya! back again, this time with something a little different, a kind of experiment.

From the 1980 Grenadier AD&D line: The Drider. I've had this fella knocking about for a bit and had the sudden urge to paint him Not a bad sculpt for its age but I did struggle trying to actually paint a tarantula body The cloak is supposed to be some sorta leopard cloak
but if my plans go ahead I'll probably end up greenstuffing over those cloaks and freehanding the pattern. The face and eyes are also really really in there but it's a good thing it's all shadowed So my idea for this is the following...

I don't think I'll be able to source enough period accurate cavalry for my 1.5/2nd ed chaos army so thinking about using these as a sort of chaotic cavalry? I can make up some rules that are hopefully in the spirit of 1.5/2nd ed, probably end up mashing the spider and dark elf champion rules together.
That's a 50mm base btw so probably only end up needing three of them, yes he is a chunky lad

Here he is compared to models of the era aka the DnD party! Thanks for reading my ramblings and see ya next time!

Okay, I admit that I'm super interested in this. What's the plan? What distinguishes a 1.5 ed chaos army from a 1st ed chaos army?

Oh just a silly distinction I use to separate 1st ed from 1st ed plus the forces of fantasy supplement lol. The chaos army is just every warrior I've painted up to this point, still got about like 6 left for two 12 man regiments. I have alot though and may just paint more for the 3 regiments of 10
After that I shove in as many monsters, demons, and any possible allied units of the era into the army. Possibly make a broo regiment if I ever source enough of them too! Dunno if I'll hit that 1000 point each three battalion army though but I'll sure try! I know chaos warriors are really expensive especially in 2nd ed. The plan after that is to make some sorta opposing human/dwarf/elf triumvirate and maybe finally play a game as intended

Hello there lol, It's been a bit but I caught the lurgy and barely getting over it. Also was gonna post yesterday but the big scrape happened to server again, any who...

Back again with another classic chaos warrior! This one being from the Knights of Chaos box: Agrad Anti-Paladin "Champion of Laughing Jokkle" although I just call mine Obesues the Blighted One Haven't painted in like two weeks so was a bit of a relearning curve with this guy
I think I made him suitably filthy though, I do wish I primed him white or grey though since deathguard green has horrible coverage over black. Got six more warriors to do after this and I'll have another regiment completed for the chaos army

Thanks for stopping by!
