In the new codex that dropped yesterday. And probably in the new cards, but I can’t verify that.

How is it that you know about the new models but not the Codex/cards?

It depends.

2nd Ed, 3rd Ed, 8th Ed and 10th Ed had enough rules changes that at launch, everyone got free, “get you by” rules in lieu of Codexes. So few editions came with free army rules.

But, those that did saw those rules removed as each Codex was released.

Gw were up front that the cards released at launch would be replaced with new ones once codex arrive and new models and stats come along with the codex. Tyranids are just first in line and thus had the shortest amount of waiting time before the update.

And yep you get the codex and you get all the rules within the codex; along with the updates that recently went out that made a few adjustments in the Errata/FAQ documents on the GW Website.

Well, they were 'up front' as long as you happen to be keeping up with the Community website on the one day they mentioned it.

Your average customer just wandering in to a store off the street almost certainly has no idea that their purchase would be invalidated within a couple of months by design.

If you want a card for the new units, yes.
Nite that apparently the new pack does NOT include the detachment rules. So you'll still need a codex .

Yes. When the codex arrives the free stuff is removed.

Also bunch of changes even on old units. Obvious one like new weapons for termagaunts but even units like genestealers and tyrannofex got changes

Yes, termagants have three new weapons. They can now take a spike rifle, a strangleweb, and a shardlauncher.
(well the spike rifle and strangleweb are technically old weapons which last had models in 2nd edition, and have had rules support on-and-off over time, but the shardlauncher is new)

While I don't want to be the one to defend the giant corpo and their business practices, it is at least a little on the consumer to be making informed purchases. Especially for someone who has apparently been in the hobby for 3 years now.

your doing just that, no-one in the store mentioned it to me, not everyone wants to watch lengthy live streams and follow GW on their community pages etc.

doesn't mention it in their online store etc...
