They are infantry who were in the Elite slot, and intended to be big blobs.
You are welcome to call that nitpicking, but remember at the same time we had weird crap all over the place in Elites.

As of right now, the "elite infantry" role is Sicarian and Pteraxii--both of whom are the same 'frame'. There's room for a more elite version of Skitarii to show up, or a "lesser" version to allow for the two current versions(Vanguard and Rangers) to be showcased as being more elite.

But you can't tell me what they would functionally do? Skitarii already have multi shot anti-infantry standard weapons, they have access to anti vehicle or elite special weapons.

What I think you're saying is "put their BS back up" which would be a total waste of a unit entry and a waste of a kit. Otherwise its better to simply make skitarii less like a Guardsman, it that's what they want.

Make mechanicum plastic and I'll sell a kidney and start horus heresy. But this is a far better idea even if not needed by the army pre-se.

No, I can't tell you what my wishlisted for/hypothetical range expanding units would do. Which one do you want to know about?

Simply put, I can't give you a hard and fast "this is what it would do". Because clearly even GW doesn't know what they want, given that they nerfed Skitarii to a 5+ save and now have brought it back to the 4+.

In an ideal world?
Skitarii Rangers, Skystalkers, and Raiders would all have a point higher BS while the Vanguard based elements would have a point higher T.
In an ideal world, a "veteran" unit would be using the rules out of the Charadon AoR and have some different, more esoteric weaponry.
IE:
"Veteran Rangers" would come standard with something like the Magnarail Lance, while "Veteran Vanguard" would have Volkite weaponry.

Make mechanicum plastic and I'll sell a kidney and start horus heresy. But this is a far better idea even if not needed by the army pre-se.

Tech-Thralls are the other end of the spectrum of what I've been hoping for, and are what I would envision being the "core" of any Explorator KT.

Currently on YouTube there are the following private videos

AoS 3
40K 2
Killteam 1
ToW 0 (so far)

As was seen last time they can run a few reveals in 1 video so videos aren’t always an indicator of what’s coming.

But how many reveals can they run in zero videos? Maybe they're sneakily trying to set expectations for the big Old World reveal they've been on about.

Disappointed if AdMech are only getting a single character model, because I remember when the new edition stream happened and the codex roadmap was revealed they made a point of emphasising that the codexes would come with new models plural.

I think that would be reading too far into it or poorly worded context. It's unrealistic to expect more than a character for some books.

I just rewatched the bit of the stream and his exact wording was ‘the other thing to note about these codexes is that all of them will come with at least some new miniatures’. It’s poorly worded but I definitely think there’s an implication of more than just one character with them there. Obviously that might not be the case, but I don’t think it’s entirely on me for expecting otherwise.

Not at all, it's their usual ambiguous wording so it can fit into whatever happens. If there's lots then they delivered on a promise, if there's only 1 it's simply people misinterpreting it. I'm actually going to be amazed if theres even 1 new mini for chaos knights this time round tbh, unless it's a dominus add-on sprue or something.

I would have expected FEC focus but ok...

A FEC focus for '40 years of warhammer' would involve showing off the old metal ghouls, which were far superior to the chunky, post-apocalyptic mutated orks currently filling the line.
They aren't going to do that.

Amen, brother...
Spoiler:

I never should have converted all mine into Wracks back before they had dedicated models...

I'm very much wondering how they're going to include/shoehorn Kill Team Specialists into Striking Scorpions (both model & fluff-wise)..

Would be a surprise if Scorpions turned to be just a regular release instead KT

Honestly, I'd prefer that : no silly specialist shenanigans and the models not being locked into a boxed set. Yes please..
