So it kind of works it seems - but relies on ultralight models. The silicon is a lot softer than I thought it would be even with its thickness.

Also considering that its basically 1 part design supplied twice the price tag feels really steel on a small container. Smart design to make a universal top/bottom system; but still makes the price feel steep.

£15-20 would have been more what I'd expect off a case of this size, quality and of limited functional use

But then it probably doesn't help that I dug my old £35 odd (least I think it was?) 3 foam tray GW case out from ages ago.

I watched the GMG review and to be honest this seems like a really bad product. It was interesting to see something new tried, and the size looks great, but it seems like a miss in every other regard. The price tag certainly doesn't help, when it is considerably more than a solid quality Feldherr case, or half the price of the very nice Tablewar magnetic skirmish case.

Yeah for an idea that's really basic that only "just sort of works" you can get better options out there.

Jesus, just spend the same amount of money on a pluck foam tray. Feldherr makes awesome ones.

My Army Transport is still going strong after at least a decade.

Biscuit Tin And magnets, they even stack and come in lots of sizes.
But you can pick up a standard one with biscuits in it for under $5.
If you doing skirmish games, or units it’s a super cheep option.

Mostly I don't know what GW is smoking nowadays. As far as I have seen, the clips on that case are just bendable plastic pieces instead of hinged catches, which all eventually wear out and snap. Then add a non-industry mainstay and instead use weird mix of silicone fingers, which absolutely will not hold metal models, as demonstrated by Ash. Then make it more expensive than tried-and-tested competitors' cases.

Genius, GW.

The hinges are really the largest insult for me, because as a father, I seriously have 3 dollar single-sandwich cases for my kids with hinges that use a metal pin to swivel. These are like the stupid tackle box hinges that all break.

This case is worth about 15 bucks, tops. And I'd still pass.

I mean, as a business, designing a product that wears out and needs to be replaced is a good idea because the vast majority of consumers will buy a new replacement rather than switch products. Hell, Apple made an entire industry on planned obsolescence.

Totally correct, I still remember the video a techie made showing an open macbook where the cooling fan connected in no way, shape of form to the CPU providing exactly 0 cooling.

Going back to the case I might give a pass to the silicon fingers, after all GW no longer deals in metal figures, but the lack of hinges is a deal breaker for me too.
