A bit of a late entry but hopefully enough time to get it finished.

I'll be painting Inquisitor Greyfax this month.



This mini was built and primed last year before I purchased an airbrush. Will be nice to get it completed.

After 36 years of sporting a rather cringey childhood paint job (he's not an ebay acquisition, I've had him this whole time), it gives me great pleasure to finally present the man... the legend... Dambo Kweltz:









...plus the wreckage of ten editions of 40k (with a bias towards Dark Eldar, since I used to play them so there're plenty of spare parts in the bits box; not the other half of that jetbike nose for some reason, but this guy's just going on a shelf so I won't have to look at him from the back), who thought they were big and tough until Dambo came calling. No glitter on the base this time, I wanted him to fit in with the Bringers terrain-wise, but he doesn't have any need for chaos sorcery, just cold hard cash.

Recently I finally had some time to work on a model, basic colours are ready:

For those hading AFK for the holidays, that might mean putting those last touches on and getting those final pics.



Calling him done. While I would have preferred to finish the stormhawk, it was just not in the cards motivation wise. But nothing motivates like a chaplain. They demand paint. Had fun converting this guy from the leviathan captain. Head swap (from techmarine), hand/weapon swap (GK hammer haft with a random top), and adjusted the angle of the SB (which needed a tilting shield/purity seal clipped) Not hard to do, but a whole new look from the stock model. He’ll be taking over from my old metal TDA chaplain (who has served me well, but is comically out of scale with the new boys)

I STILL haven’t made any progress. Genuinely concerned I won’t make it in this month, but I will give it my best shot.

This is the Black Spectre for Carnevale. Got it as a Secret Santa. Cue rapid clean and prime!

Have not managed to grab a brush since finishing last month's miniature.
Trying to make use of the holiday time to get a few minis done.

Still unsure which model / models I'll use as my entry.
I tend to jump from one project to another. So I decided to collect a bunch of likely models into one proof picture just in case:

Some hunters from the Bloodborne boardgame or Pinup Black Knight and Willow from Kingdom Death.
Couple of the hunters have been base coated with a grey dry brush (~zenithal kind of effect).


Might also be something completely different, but I'll post a new proof picture if it comes to that.

Nearly finished my chaplain - need to try and tidy up cloak / mace and base then calling him done.

The red wings where a pain to glue into place, think my smallest drill bit is 1.2mm which was to big for sticking a pin in. I only had super glue and some cheap epoxy which didn't work great, I managed to pick up some gorilla glue gel seems to be working better.

You should be able to get some small drill bits with a pin vice. Not sure if they sell separately. I got mine from Army Painter. Also useful for drilling out gun barrels.

I’ve got 2 sets of “normal” drill bits like you’d find in the hardware store, and the smallest ones are useful for sinking magnets, but too big for pinning. Technically if I was ever building a titan or other mega-model they would be, but nothing at the normal scale.

Joining in on the WIP* train, I made a size comparison. But being coy about it I'm only showing off the back of the billboard.

It's conceivable that I went a little overboard when I chose the size of my canvas. It certainly explains why I'm still not finished...

That said, I'm 95% there. Even with less time to paint over Christmas I think I'll finish early.




*Strictly speaking nothing in the picture is WIP. I painted the 3D parts of the model first because I didn't want to risk rubbing paint off the main gig, or any of the brush slips that happened around the edges.

Having said I'd do the Carnevale, I'm back to blood bowl: more progress on the Khorne team.

The two sets - Gw and Greebo Games - work really well together, and the oldhammer sorcerer makes a decent apothecary I reckon. So I'll pick 5 once they're done

Made a bit of progress on this months entry but, obviously, today I am on a modeling break. Just wanted to say hello and give best wishes to everyone and Merry Christmas…where ever you are, whatever your doing…

The Sprinter transport is ready. I redesigned the canopy so that the glass panels are flat. I made them from transparent foil, and I am happy with the results. Some parts were askew after printing, but the file and putty did the job. Overally I'm happy how it turned out

Ha! He is… and he will be making an appearance in one of the future months for sure!

I have finished my entry and I am not hoppy with it. Coating the whole thing in high gloss didn't really help the white ink flow and the glow feels like 'yuk' to me. Especially the eyes.

Sorry to hear that your attempt at glow didn't go so well, but I can appreciate that your Librarian is a Blood Angel.

Painting the face proved to be very challenging. Half way through it started to look like the infamous "thin your paints marine" image.

Still gotta figure out how to take proper pictures that don't look terrible. Maybe next year!

For anyone interested in WIP shots, I took pictures between painting sessions and made a creation collage. Painting a movie poster in forty easy steps, put in spoilers because it's a really long picture:



A bonus of such thorough documentation is that I have a reasonable idea of how long it took to paint the whole thing. That's around thirty four hours with a brush in hand, plus some five or six for the billboard model.

I've painted a model!

Feels like ages since I managed to complete something. And it's one I've been wanting to get painted for ages. Only problem is, I've been rushing to get it done in order to clear out my study for guests who are coming tonight and staying until after New Year's. I've cleared up and moved everything out and then sat down and looked at the model and realised... I've forgotten to paint the Dracoline's eyes!

Anyway, here's the proof pic, I'll put up finished photos as soon as I have a chance to take them.

Well, the full team is done, and I got a bit overexcited so did tokens, dugouts etc as well

Now I've just got to choose 5 favourites.

Month is running out, but not over yet! And reminder that we will run until the end of the first, so an extra day.
