True that terrain is all compatible. besides, as with all collecting, resale value even if not always covering first investment is a thing that dampens if need be.

Just taking a break. I’ve got everything I wanted done, done, and with that went the same level of motivation.

Also been in a very odd mood this week,and my sleep is all over the shop.

Seems to be settling down now though, so will get back on the horse tomorrow evening.

One more batch of Legions Imperialis ruins to be sprayed, and I can get that all polished off.

From there I’ve more Mechanicum to build, and ten Striking Scorpions, as the weekend’s reveals have got me going back to my 2nd Ed to Modern Eldar project.

Are you going to paint your new Eldar like your other ones or try a new subfaction within the Eldar?

Currently deciding, as I’m yet to put brush to model.

The original plan was to do them as Altansar, but that paintjob is looking like a pain in the arse.

What I might do is get some cheap Guardians from somewhere (such as second hand) to do a few test pieces, see how I get on.

How about biting the bullet and going the Ynnari route?

My Avatar is going to be a mega-project, as I’m getting my Excellent Painter Friend to do me an in-person tutorial, as I’m getting him an Avatar for Chrimbo.

I have a vague plan to do Alaitoc someday, in the vein of the studio army from WD138...

Do you perhaps mean this ‘un?

Thinking I may do a predominantly bone themed paint scheme. But I really don’t know at this stage.

Don’t have either in my existing force. Not yet, anyway. Perhaps in the future I will.

We’re now a mere 9 days from the end of the year.

My project was bold. My project was ambitious. And life has its ways of kicking us in the fork.

I’ll be honest? The grand plan of 365 days of hobby just didn’t happen. I have my reasons, I’ll let you decide if they’re excuses.

Yet despite the failure? I’ve painted way, way more in (hold on, when did Dad die…11 July) six and a bit month of “at least a wee bit everyday”. And as a result? My Epic and 28mm scale armies aren’t just painted, but based. No the good based.

So I’m gonna claim this as a proper success.

Maybe tune in next year for some kind of paint related nonsense.

As long as it brought some sort of pleasure to your life, it is a critical success.

Still some fuel in the tank.

Today, I built the third Castellax of the second Maniple. Got three more to build to round out the first and second Maniples. Then I’ll do the remaining 12 Thallaxi. But most of that will be into next year.

And probably my last bit of hobby for 2024.

Second Maniple, all with anti-infantry and a fairly basic loadout. And with all those Bolt Cannons, a decent shot at pinning enemy units.
