Considering how much production GW does - that likely is true for their own internal process. Therefore it likely does help streamline things if orders come through during a set period so they can then know how many they've got and estimate production needs.

It also means that the stock from Boxing day physical sales should clear the system. Which means they get reliable "made to order" requests instead of a huge number on the day followed by loads of cancellations as everyone ordered one before heading to the shops to see if they could get one.

That's nice, but 'that’s so that we can make this product Made To Order' isn't the same as 'that's so that we can make our lives easier after we changed our mind after receiving backlash on our FOMO plan'.

The delay is probably just there to decrease the impact of an unplanned made to order run on their normal production schedule. One assumes the terrain made to order that starts this week was all the plastic casting time they originally wanted to divert from making more Ultramarines.

The terrain stuff is probably being made outside the UK, and ths not the usual miniature production channels / pipeline.

Red Gobbo Battleplan:

Kind of surprised they didn't bring back the Black Gobbo for this one.

Huh, yeah. Red gobbo is much more of a 40k guy. On the other hand it is the red gobbo’s calendar… which makes me wonder why they didn’t make a scenario for 40k instead. Or as well.

Does this make Vostryans, Imperials, Grenades, etc... all a part of AoS now?

I don't insist that it's specifically or exclusively the terrain made to order. As we've learned in the meantime there's a Battle Sisters made to order in the beginning of January. I'm sure GW has a whole schedule worked out for these things. It's the professional thing to do.

Now that you bring it up, how have other terrain made to orders gone with regard to plastic quality? I might be game this time around, unless it's cast like the original AoS terrain kits. I haven't paid much attention to 40k terrain kits in the recent(ish) past, so I wouldn't know how that's gone in the last years.

Big ol' Nurgle next week:

And a Helsmiths Spearhead.

Interesting to see the Pox Wretches without the Pestigors from DW - that new sprue design must mean they can cast half (right side) of a double sprue. They also seem to be direct only along with the court.

Mulgoth the Cleaver and the Blight Templars don't have a warscroll in the book and Cankerborn are limited to the 2 minis only so no point getting more.

Glad I got Mulgoth and the Blight Templars off ebay for a reasonable price and not Gelgus Pust. The latter's price was already jacking up, but now I imagine it'll be cheaper

I've said it before, but I really like this iteration of modern GW Nurgle. With the exception of some easy to trim off horns, the new models seem almost WFB-esque in how... restrained they look.

Even the new Blightkings could be decent as individual characters.

I'm not a nurgle fan but yeah Nurgle are REALLY getting some top grade models. I also like how the style, poses and details lends itself really well to the cartoony style studio paint schemes (which are more accessible to emulate for many average/new hobbyists) and yet you can switch it up and go really nasty with realistic painting styles.

I prefer the previous Blightkings kits, also the Templars would be the perfect update.
But thats me being extra picky I think this Nurgle update is 10 out 10.

New Blightkings look too much like Buddha/Sumo wrestler to me. But at least they don't have a belly-mouth - just good rancid fat. And I'm not a fan of Gelgus Pust.

The rest of the Nurgle stuff is pretty good.

As much as I love the old PBK’s and will miss their build options, the thought of getting what seems like a dozen new Maggotkin kits/sculpts sure does ease the pain of losing them to a new kit with much less options.

I got 4 new in box PBK kits for bits and variety for when I pull the trigger on this army and want my options back!

Surprised the Templars don't have a scroll. Seems like a tailor made unit for the main game.

Do we know if the Quest Pestigors are getting a stand-alone release?

I hope so, they are a bit better looking than the Darkwater kit for my money. I think I prefer them because they take more design queues from the OG Pestigors of WHFB and their Mordheim warband.

But I doubt it. For example, GW is sitting on an ETB sprue of Chaos Warriors(from the OOP Start Collecting STD box) that I’m sure every StD/WoC player would love to buy to supplement the multi-part plastic kit. They just love leaving money on the table…

Did I miss the Cankerborn on the price list or are they direct only? I wonder how much they'll cost.

Direct only yes. It's hard to figure out the price there's no real precedent for an ETB kit like this one. In theory it should be around the €34.50 price range but there are 4 minis in the box and that's how it will be presented - even if 2 of the minis are tokens they have in game use - so the price could be more based on that plus they are unique so you'll only ever buy one set.

Pox Wretches are probably easier to figure out - 20 ETB minis (14 PW and 6 Mire Kelpies) same as the clan rats at €42
The closest to the the Court is the Ethereal Court at €70.

In other words, if you want all the Nurgle stuff, it's still probably going to be better value just to get the whole game rather than whole lot separately

Yep that was true for Cursed City for a long time -if you wanted all the vampire stuff it was way cheaper to get the set. Or get a split set on ebay.

To the shock of no one, Vhordrai is the winner. Kind of a cheek having the unmounted version as a seperate model. But still, happy to see the Wight King and Dominator Engine in there.

I thought it was cheeky letting both versions of the model have a stand, which meant this year in the top 10 Soulblight had 4 slots! Which is darn impressive!

Delighted the Warden placed so high. Lovely, restrained mini. Just a pity it was a limited release.

I like that something as puny as a plain Chaos Lord ranked so high among all these humongous models, even if I don't think the model is all that great.

On that note, I was thinking they should run another vote for best units. Apparently all those heroes and monsters draw all the attention, while there's not a single unit kit in any of these rankings.
There was outstanding stuff like the Ratlings this year, though, which I'd put far ahead most of these monsters and characters.
