The same rumormongers who reported The Last World stuff, Whitefang and Boole, said that an Ogor refresh would be coming by the end of 2026. IIRC the rumors indicated that they'd be losing Gnoblars, black powder tech, and Maneaters, and shift more towards a caveman aesthetic.
Sounds like a pretty extensive reboot, which would rule out them getting ditched entirely and sidelined to TOW like Beastmen.

Legacy armies is a title for anything GW doesn't sell; but there's clearly a move toward pushing models back from AoS into Old World to appease fans along with a move toward separating the lines
So could GW move classic ogors back into TOW and the revamp ogors in AoS - 100% yes they could do that.

I love the background in the old 6e Ogre Kingdoms army book, but I've never been super into the chubby mongolian look they went for with the plastics.
But if Knoblars are disappearing, maybe I need to get myself a box.

AOS4 was summer 2024, so as we haven't seen anything to really indicate a needed break in the 3 year cycle, the expectation would be that AOS5 would arrive in summer 2027.

Same for me about the look of the plastic Ogres. I loved the way the metals used to look in the 90s ( 40k Ogryns, too) and was sad to see GW veer away from it. Ogres would have been a contender for my first Fantasy army if they hadn't been fat Mongolians.
Shame to see Gnoblars go, but a caveman look might be cool if done right. It's probably too much to hope for but I'd love a return to 1990s Ogre faces. That kind of saw a brief revival in Necromunda, but the way GW is going with humanoid anatomy we're likely to see dull fatbuffdudes instead of actual fantasy creatures. With the fat part possibly being in question, if they aren't fat Mongolians anymore.

Yeah. No reason not to believe June 2027 for the next edition of AoS, and likely the second half of the month, too. Give or take a week. New editions of the main games are very predictable these days.

The rumor from Boole says city ogors are 'sacrilegious' and 'their emaciated bodies prove they are not real Ogors at all' so I'm guessing we're in for fat non-Mongol cavemen.

Dryads and treelords pre endtimes, and the other tree kin were some of the first aos releases 10 years ago. Since then they have done spirit semi elves, clearly trying to move to a more antropocentric relatable range. I exaggerate ofcourse, some characters are pure treekin, but the change in style since AOS1 is pretty clear. I wish they stuck with a theme of nature rising against civilizasion, huge angry bugs and meateating plants instead of elves ridning bugs.
I dont even know if Im trying to make a point anymore.

But there aren't any elves in the army - its all dryads of various kinds. The only models that "need" to retire for Wood Elves are the Dyrads which are core units and old so ripe for being updated. The Treelord is one of those big grow-up models from the nearer End Times and more likely to just remain in AoS.
So I'd only expect 1 unit to move to Old World as it gets a AoS update and honestly its about the only kit in Slyvaneth that needs/warrents an update. Everything else is AoS new or so close to it as to count.

Sylvaneth art focus!
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/qrwbuq7f/warhammer-art-through-the-years-sylvaneth/
Its funny that some of the discourse of the last page(s) has been about the age of the Dryad Kit, and with that fresh in my mind, I noticed how little they feature in most of the Sylvaneth artwork. I know they do and have featured in past artwork in previous battletomes, but its a pretty wild coincidence.

The Dyrads have clearly been on the cards for a big update. However I think its also just because they are older models and a lot of the newer art is specifically designed to pair with new models as they came out or close too.
Honestly it would be interesting to see what direction GW would take with them as there's quite a few. Living trees; half elf half tree splits like the larger; more animal branchlike forms; more treelike. There's a lot of directions they could go in as a separate new unit.

Orion from the old WHFB Wood Elves line was one of the models that got me initially interested in the game. I'm sad that he never got an updated model that matched the Warhammer Total War video game version of the character. There are some 3d models out there of similar figures but they just haven't captured the style right IMO.

I still think its sad that GW never revived wood elves in AoS as a theme. They sort of seem to be trying with those animalist Kurnothi, but so far the only "army" model for them that's dedicated to the army (not an underworlds warband) is an ent riding a bug.
I'd love to see the "animal" side of the Slvaneth; it would be a great way to show the nature of at least one realm.

Sylvaneth are in a weird place model wise, I hear a lot of people not really liking both sides to it. And would rather see it go one way or the other.
I just wish they went into more a Fairy direction, nearly monstrous beautiful fae alongside the trees. Gives a chance to do more Beatles and bugs theme as well. The current stuff I think leans too far into ghosts trees for me.
But the lore and everything of them seems really basic, and even picking up one of the books they were in I just didn’t care to finish it.
