So when I was a kid I had this little metal man action figure called a micronauts spaceglider..

I was mesmerized by the metallic blue of its chest piece and when thinking about potential future color schemes for my leagues of Votann I kindof wanted to include it.. but I have no clue how to reproduce it! Everytime I mix any blue with silver for instance it becomes something entirely different, bleached etc.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! (Or if there is a citadel paint that already is this hue, I couldn't find it)
example:
(added a pic showing a metal men radon which looks a lot the same and shows the blue a bit better)

I would recommend starting of with a normal silver or chrome color (check out Green Stuff Worlds chrome color if you want something really silvery) and when it is dry apply a blue contrast color on top of it. In my experience the contrast on top of metallic produce some really excellent metallic colors. I had some excellent results with Flesh Tearer Red (contrast) on Retributor armor resulting in a beautiful red metallic.

Edit: another interesting option might be GSW Chameleon Colors

their metallics: https://www.greenstuffworld.com/de/metallfarben/910-metallische-farbe-neptunus-blue.html

I’ve gotten similar effects with blue inks over silvers. I used to do accent plates on my chaos warriors back in the day, but the paints I used are long OOP at this point.

I forgot: the method mentioned above (silver + contrast paint after it is dryed) works best if you finish it off with some glossy varnish like Ardcoat or Munitorum Varnish spray. Otherwise it gets a bit dull.

Try a test piece where you paint in metallic iron/silver, and then glaze with blue ink. You may have to experiment a bit to find the right level of highlighting, the right base coat, and the right ink, but I get a reasonably similar effect with this technique.

My exact recepie was 'black undercoat, boltgun base, chainmail and mithril silver layering, then citadel blue ink'... but finding those exact paints means either the second-hand market, or hoping the Coat d'Arms version is close enough. Still, there are enough brands out there that you should be able to find something suitable to fit your particular needs.

Ahhhhhhh ofcourse, I am so used to mixing colors -_-
I had totally forgotten about contrast paints (which I do have, but not sure if I have the same blue I need though)..
I was planning to do a visit to a proper warhammer store soon so they have a better selection of paints..

that cobalt blue looks perfect, I will write it down, that store did have greenstuff world paints I think from top of my head.
