Yeah, like what head fluff/army ideas do you have in the wake of the new Beta Garmon rules? In 1st ed heresy shattered legions totally ruled my head fluff, with the progression in story since then I've been enjoying coming up with new ideas and list writing.

Right now, my favourite idea is blackshield Ultramarines. Terran vets who saw Guilliman's Imperium Secondus as a gross betrayal of the Emperor tantamount to that of Horus, they decided to leave the 500 worlds and find their way back to terra to uphold their Imperial oaths. I really like it as it feels like it hits my favourite niche in the lore, stories which are personal yet fit nicely within the broader narrative.

I'd love to hear what you've all come up with! Anything from vague lore to detailed list - I'm working on my list atm and will share soon!

Special operations for my AL.. but considering the state of the rules it's questionable if i am able to pull it off, seeing as the panoply of old rule is just badly written to the point of dysfunctionality.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

One I’ve always had in the back of my head is a “forgotten” Iron Warriors Garrison force, turned Black Shield Loyalist.

Well, currently my Shattered Legions army is, frankly nonexistent.

Having built it to the HH1 version at best I can mix Legion Tacticals, and have some transports and HQs.

To make it up to the HH2 version I'd have to do a lot of work which is unfortunate as it could very much be a meme to try it out. But alas I basically have to just keep plodding on with my Iron Hands and make them Shattered by paint scheme and unit markings rather than rules specifically.

Brotherhood of Bronze

With their Primarch killed the Marines of the II and XI legions were placed in the care of the XIII Legion. Their minds wiped of their past, they thought themselves as proud sons of Ultrama.

Then the Horus Heresy started.

Slowly, those from the II and XI legions were plagued with memories they could not remember. As the civil war waged on, the intensity of these only grew, until the curtain fell, they now stood face to face with their truth.

With their minds restored, the next stage was for an escape. Using the civil war as a distraction, they escaped the Ultrama system, fled into the depths of space. Their hearts were still loyal to the Emperor, but they knew deep down in their hearts, that their Primarchs were removed by the Emperor for a reason, now with the Horus Heresy waging on, it was seen as further proof that all Primarchs are flawed. All of them would betray the Emperor eventually, whether that be due to their ego being too big, or being led astray onto the path of damnation. They would all seek to usurper the Emperor of Mankind.

They were reborn as a new Brotherhood, a Brotherhood forged by a new purpose, to protect the Emperor, and rid the galaxy of the Primarchs. They will accept all who fight for the same purpose, and welcome all into their ranks, past Legion affiliation matters not to the Brotherhood.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

I like that lore idea. It is plausible, dramatic and kinda cool. My question would be, what is it that turned them into Blackshields rather than continuing to fight in the same old Ultramarines style they are used to? Why not just use Ultramarine rules but say "They like the Emperor, but not Guilliman."

If they had absorbed terran members of the Blood Angels and Dark Angels too, that could partially explain the dilution of the Ultramaines ways, but then arguably Shattered Legions might make more sense. Perhaps they have a particularly charismatic leader who has imposed his own style on them? If they are all Terran veterans who rejected their primarch, have they reverted to their pre-Guilliman tactics? Deliberately renounced the whole theoretical-practical stuff?

My army started with Blackshield fluff, but in the short-term I used Alpha Legion fluff whilst I waited for Blackshield rules. Now, though, the Blackshield rules don't remotely fit the army I built and the fluff has kinda morphed into being more just a loyalist AL army anyway.
