I'm just saying, businesses are not going to give up on the idea of replacing all their workers whenever and wherever they can with automation.

AI is some of the first actual attempts to replace white collar professionals with automation, and it will not go away.

Maybe it isn't the best attempt, or there yet; but the "Job Creators" will be like the Terminator on this. They will not stop coming to take away every job they can with cheap automation. It doesn't have to be good, just good enough. The cheapness forgives a lot of other problems.

Therefore, people better be able to exploit it better than the automation can automate. That or unionize like mad and I do not see that happening in the US anytime soon.

Or form worker cooperatives, although historically the US has been very hostile to workers buying out businesses.

What we could really do with are inputs we can give to the AI models to poison them.

I thought that was all ready happening, yet companies are still driving forward with them anyway.

I never said business leaders were a, smart; or b, understood this whole AI thing before glomming onto it.

Microsoft Office and computerisation did that years ago. Banks used to have far more figure pushers. Government departments more clerks. Companies more archivists.

AI is just the latest attempt to cut posts and funnel the money to executives/shareholders. Some businesses will stay in the old days, some will change a little, some will cut too far and suffer for it. The trick for the C-suite is to try and gauge it right.

AI is already taking work from people and it will continue to do so. How practical it will be long term remains to be seen but it is taking work from the likes of artists who work on commission and so on already, and lots of articles are being written by AI rather than a burned out listical writer.

I'm not optimistic about how this will play out in future.

AI narrators are also taking work from everyday voice actors.

There is now software that poisons art for Ai, and it seems fairly effective but may take time to see what happens.
Ai art also makes a lot of junk, and it’s still fairly easy to tell.
But interesting enough all the artists I have worked with and still work with have seen little to no drop off in work, people paying for art want something specific that Ai art won’t be giving soon.

There is also an interesting thing where in the rush to get data and into the hands of users, the user data itself is also helping to create feedback that is unhelpful. Not everyone writes the same English, or even particularly well.
I been testing out a D&D Ai running on one of the best models currently for English practice and some of the most interesting parts have been the Ai basically breaking.

The thing with AI generated content is that it can't actually create and has no contextual awareness of what it's doing.

It's basically scraping the entire internet for content and using links between items (like images or words) to figure out what the most likely next thing is. It can spew out rehashed documents on anything but it has no idea how accurate or relevant the source material is. That's why it occasionally comes out with terrible advice after taking spam literally

Unfortunately, that means it's also pretty bigoted. Like most images of criminals being black, terrorists being Arab, professionals being men and so on.

I think the next big hurdle is probably copyright - OpenAI has basically said that their AI models wouldn't be sustainable if it wasn't for wholesale copyright theft. If a mechanism is created that allowed creators to prevent AI using their content (and AI data scrapers not stealing it anyway) then the quality of the content will plummet.

There will certainly be a point (if we're not already there) where so much of the available content is either already generated or just garbage.
