How do!

Currently thinking of getting the various Chaos WarCry warbands as painting projects, and as per the title, I’m wondering if they’re usable in AoS, even if only as particularly funky looking Darkoath Marauders?

I think you could at one point, with differing stats and abilities?

I think some are still in the 'main' books, but most are Legends now.

yeah, they still have rules and points and such. no reason you can't use them. you could probably figure something out in other books (ie, using golems as khorne guys), you don't need to, at least not yet

Originally they were basically "Flavoured Marauders". So those that share the same base size as current Marauders could be used easily as just flavourful designs and "counts as."

Of course most sets had models on larger bases and thus the numbers don't directly translate easily.

some of the larger models could be used as characters, such as chaos lords or sorcerer lords

Yep the greater issue is that you'd need more boxed sets than normal to use the smallerbase models in large enough numbers. Though that's not totally a bad thing to have more models of course

Honestly, the easier solution would probably just be to buy some extra bases and stick them on the right ones for the Darkoath/Legionnaire unit you decide to proxy them as.

I find the Warcry warbands some of the best sculpts - the squads are loaded with character. Base sizes can be all over the place, but I think that Rule of Cool would tip the scales in favour of counting them as Darkoath.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand
