I've been looking at the Necromunda lineup and like the look (and lore somewhat) of the Van Saar gang, but the brutes are also kindof cool I suppose..
Can't really make up my mind atm, still not sure if I want to make a necromunda "army".. but making something relatively small for a more compact game which is therefor easier to carry around would I meet other people that want to play (prospect is there, place opening up a game-night location soon) is for me easier than to take an entire WH army with me to something I have never done before (live play).
Is Van Saar fun? How's the bulgor/brute group compared?
I'm not looking for big meta explanations nor do I care about nerfs and buffs, just the funfactor of playing these.
Kind regards.
-Helveine.

Van Saar are fun, as long as you like shooting your opponents from afar. Van Saar don’t like to get up close.
As with many GW games it’s possible to make a super cheesy Van Saar gang that kills everything with plasma. It’s also possible to tone the gang down and try to make it fun for everyone, not just you.
I’m not sure what you mean by brute group. Slave Ogryns?

I really love the Van Saar aesthetic. A full guard army out of the models would look awesome, and you could have. A lot of fun with vehicle variants

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yeah I in particular like that aspect, their jetpack spidery exoskeleton droidthings (looked em up; arachni rigs, and the forgeworld brute in particular) look freaking awesome.. and they themselves sport the stache like a bunch of oldschool minutemen in skitarii fashion (I always found the adeptus mechanicus have too many wires and other fragile parts but the Van Saar look a lot more compact/less prone to breaking).
@ElToro
sounds like my type of force, I do prefer positioning/tactics over engaging for rolls.
edit: yeah slave ogryn, dunno why I thought of them as "bulgor" lol thats beastmen -_- brainfart. (probably from the bullgryn -_- )
I googled a bit and apparently Slave Ogryn can be played standalone, or as part of the Goliath gang.
I might just have to build two gangs otherwise because it's really hard to pick between Van Saar's spider rigs and Ogryn Goliath aesthetics (and painting ease)

Slave Ogryns are fun too, though in Necromunda you'll get more mileage out of a House gang. They just have more options than other gangs.
With Slave Ogryns it's best to get up close to the enemy. They do have a gun, namely the Storm Welder, though it's not worth taking. Grenades are definitely worth taking with Slave Ogryns, their high strength means they can throw the grenades pretty far. You will want to get into close combat with your gang though.

Yeah just been looking into that, a grenade/charge throwing gang sounds like a lot of fun, making these fellas dangerous no matter where they are in combat, I take it that house van Saar is less effective when they get pincered into melee..
I do think that I am going to take a box (or two) of both. I like the goliath/ogryn size difference anyway, but you need something to contrast that with, so having two gangs works.
Thanks everyone. Hope to oneday play a round and more of this.
