i'd really like to use the new HH mechanicum stuff in 40k.
what count as would be ok in your book?

castellax as kastelans seems pretty easy
tech thralls as skitarii is another easy one
what to do with the thallax though... kataphron?

would the triaros work as a skorpius?

every edition, people seem to make homebrew rules for that stuff, so look around for that, maybe

I think if one does some weapon swapping etc it should be fine.

And yeah, I was thinking thallax as kataphron too. Rules wise they seem appropriate, but they do have different base sizes. Shouldn't be an issue in more casual games, but tournaments might have an issue with it.

i also figured it should be ok as long as you dont use them as multiple different units on the table meaning this unit is this but this same looking unit is that.

Thallax = Kataphrons
Thanatar = Onager
Tech Thralls = Skitarii
Castellax = Kastelan

Sure, but thallax are on 40mm bases, and kataphron on 60mm ones. Thallax would probably look hella weird on such big bases. Maybe 50mm would be a nice compromise.

As long as you used suitable weapon swaps, I wouldn't oppose it. I can never remember half the stuff AM players can do anyways, all their bespoke special rules are so vast.. Your droids/mecha looking slightly different from the rest is trivial compared to that hehehe!

Gonna be my usual boring self. Just keep it visually distinct.

So for Kataphron Breachers and Destroyers? No “this unit of Thallaxi are X, this unit of Thallaxi are Y”.

If the paintjobs are distinct? That’s good enough for me.

tbh it's not that far off, Kataphrons don't fill up their base anyway
